One of the biggest criticisms of Wlad is the lack of a signature win. All things considered, you can kind of say that Povetkin is it. And if you're really generous, you can add Haye too. But Wlad was a dominant favorite in both fights.

What makes Fury's resume better already is the fact that he's undefeated in fights where he is the underdog. Wlad at the time Fury beat him was more highly regarded than any of Wlad's opponents. Wilder at the time Fury beat him was more highly regarded than any of Wlad's opponents. He would have been made the favorite against Wlad-era Povetkin and I think he would open the slight favorite against Wlad-era Haye (although stylistically, I think either has the power to stop the other).

Wlad had volume and consistency in his favor, and I don't think Fury can establish a lengthy reign.

exactly! People like to bring up ‘fury punching himself’, ‘fury beat old wlad’ or ‘aJ lost to Ruiz’ ( but avenged it) ‘aJ nearly lost to wlad’

umm....wlad lost 5 times, 3 to poor to B rate fighters, and to both aJ and fury. It’s always glossed over.

aj avenged his loss right away. How many losses did wlad avenge and how long did it take?

I can not believe people have truly deluded themselves that the opposition wlad faced was elite, or even A class half the time.

    best wins

povetkin should be his signature win but the way he won it, wlad fans like to forget it. Absolute horror show and I still can’t believe wlad never got one point taken off. Povetkin also has never even held a legit belt.

Haye - 8-4 wlad I had it. Revisionists like to say it was some sort of master class. Huh? Wlad played all sorts of tricks on Haye, drug testing, entrance, entrance delay, Gloves.
I would not be surprised if Haye was also on the famous bouncy castle ring. Lucky you can’t fool a gypsy.

chagaev - meh. A belt holder who was sparked by 38 year old Lucas Browne.

I slate vitali for his poor resume, another thing that boggles my mind when people claim it’s brilliant. I would rate vitali so much higher if he had an elite name on his resume.

He came up short against Byrd and Lennox, one or both on his win list then vitali would have a good resume indeed. But he didn’t. Fury and to a degree AJ passed their passing of the torch tests, vitali failed. It’s also a shame injury robbed him of 4 years. Injuries, the story of vits career.

Wladimir made it mandatory that in his contracted bouts that if he lost, then he would either rematch or he could select Vitali to face them. How many have the luxury of that? It's almost as luxurious as Wladimir not having to face the best of his era, Vitali.

Vitali Klitschko is my favourite boxer, along with Tyson Fury, but he did fight poor opposition. Vitali did not beat Chris Byrd or Lennox Lewis, but he was not outclassed either. It was shocking that he did not continue for two rounds against Chris Byrd to inevitably win and against Lennox Lewis, the cut was caused by a grazing punch, it wasn't even a clean shot. So at least Vitali did not get sparked out by mediocre opposition and outclassed by inexperienced opposition after pulling stunts with the ring and gloves.

The least you can do when you face questionable opposition is to win convincingly and not slip up. Vitali was obviously closer to that than Wladimir, but he was also older when he began to step up in opposition and he was far more injury prone. Head to head, I think Vitali gives anyone in history serious problems, but Wladimir has serious holes that have been exploited multiple times. Just because he has a slightly harder straight right and better left hook doesn't tell the whole story.

The only time Wladimir fought to unify titles, aside from defending, was against Sultan Ibragimov and David Haye. The former being another 'Andy Ruiz' guy regarding height, who billed himself at 6'2'', when he clearly wasn't. Sultan Ibragimov couldn't have cared less if he won that fight. He took his millions and never fought again.

sorry mate I’m just in shock Iv finally found a vitali fan on here that deals in facts. Top man.

I never slate vits as a fighter, he would have been up there in the belt equation in any era. Just as fury and aJ. Put vitali, fury, aj, Holyfield, Lewis, Tyson, Holmes etc in a round robin and no one is getting out that undefeated. We could probably stick wlad in their too.

    I’m not a klit hater, I’m a realist

Fury has a long way to go to catch up with Wlad resume wise.
He is talented and has the momentum now, but he is not stable and in my opinion he won't have a long reign.
If he doesn't retire soon it's just a matter of time before he comes out in terrible shape and gets blasted out.

Fury has yet to be sparked out by two journey men and then avoided one of them .Still plenty of time !.

Wlad beat a lot of big heavyweights too, for example Jefferson, undefeated prime Wach, prime Austin, prime Thompson, etc.
It was the Tyson Fury camp that was pulling stunts with the gloves and the ring, nasty head games to try to demoralize and frustrate Wlad before the fight even started.

Wlad has a very good resume. Never ducked anyone.
But, Fury made him look like a rank and file amateur. That of course does not diminish Wlads resume, but from what I have seen, and I was no fan of Fury when he fought Wlad, Tyson has demonstrated that he is indeed the real deal. He is the best HW in the world right now until proven otherwise.

That being said, I doubt he hangs around too much longer. Wilder, AJ....Usyk(?) then go into WWE lol.

Saunders and Brewster have wins over young Wlad and not 40 year old grandpa, who Fury and AJ beat.
Brewster also beat Golota. His resume is worse then Fury's?
If you look realistically at Fury's resume it's very poor.
He only beat Chisora and Wilder. 40 year old Wlad was ok, but not a top fighter anymore.
AJ has a much better resume with a lot of top wins. Not as good as Wlad's, but if he keeps fighting he could catch up with him.

And wlad has the literal world record for punches thrown and connected in a 12 round heavyweight championship contest v fury.

even 48 year old Holyfield and mid forties foreman threw and connected more lol

And he wasn't mentally stable enough to hold them for long.

Fury has never defended a world title, NOT EVEN ONCE.

Joshua has had many world title defenses (IBF, WBO, WBA).

Wlad did the same to Chisora before he fought Vitali. Dirty tricks and head games.
