They should change it back or they lose all credibility. Wilder might be the #5 heavyweight in the post Lennox Lewis era, and even that would be debatable. He is not #5 in the world PfP, or even #50.
Are they serious? Probably the worst list I've seen in years Wilder, AJ & Kovalev shouldn't be on a top 10 p4p list.. they all lost pretty badly recently .. Beterbiev would destroy Kovalev now & Wilder blamed a superhero outfit for his brutalisation & Spence looks like he can barely string a sentence together lately!
I don’t understand it at all??? How do they have wilder 5 after that hammering? Kov still top 10 while clearly washed up? Even fury 2? Crazy stuff
Wilder, the poster child of relying on dimensions and power rather than any sort of skill or technique is currently ahead of Crawford (6th), Lomachenko (9th), Usyk (17th) and Inoue (20th). Their rankings were shaky before, but they just lost all credibility.
It's an algorithm. Boxing is one of the least suited sports for statistical analysis. The process being systematic and consistent makes it valuable in large swaths as it's relatively objective. Like when I'm looking for a new guy to check out, maybe I'll look at the top 50 in a weight class. However, it's easy to game Boxrec points, and it does some pretty laughable stuff in the minutiae. If you understand how the system works, and that it works the least well on a P4P scale, there's really no point in arguing with the results. It is what it is. I mean, P4P in itself is nonsensical and best used as a marketing tool.
They completely destroyed the modern ratings whereas the inactive fighter ratings are better than before, but still very flawed. They have guys like Farmer at #2 at 130 and Joseph Diaz at #7.
