A prime (1960s) Ali would have been troubled by Frazier but he would have won. Lets not forget that the version of Frazier who fought Ali the first time was like the best version of Frazier ever, and it was still a close decision. (one judge had it wide, the other two had it close) That was an Ali who had just returned to the ring after being out of the ring for 3 and a half years. If you put that Frazier in with Ali from 1966 or 1967 before he was exiled from boxing Ali was faster, more light on his feet, more confident, etc and would win a lot of those rounds he lost vs Joe in their first match. And even though Henry Cooper landed a hell of a shot on Cassius Clay in '63 knocking him down, that was before Ali had truly peaked, before he beat Liston, etc. It was a hell of a shot by Cooper, but Ali was practically unbeatable with the confidence that he gained after beating Liston up until he was exiled from boxing in '67.
He's basically indignant that Ali is looked upon as the greatest of all time whereas he's merely looked on as a ****-talking *****. His argument is that he's unbeaten whereas Ali lost to Spinks with only seven fights and Ali standing for a cause, while great, has nothing to do with boxing. 'Money' Mayweather misses that while, yes, he is unbeaten and, yes, he did make a lot of money for the Pacquiao fight with regards to latter no one cares and as for the former, it's pretty easy to be unbeaten when you've never been hit by anybody like Joe Frazier or George Foreman.
He would've been beaten clearer imo he hadn't just returned it was his third fight, way to much is made of this, especially when the majority dismiss it with Fury, or don't mention it as much as an obstacle to overcome, its just Furys weight I see mentioned majority of the time. Furys is the better feat considering the size of him Was he as robust/strong as 70's Ali ? id say no
Fury had five or six months to prepare for the first Wilder fight. Ali had about three to prepare for Frazier. Fury was also in there with a puffed up paper champion and not an elite all time great like Frazier.
Ali didn't lose Ricky Hatton in weight to get back in shape either though, plus they were fighting far more regularly back then. Your point stands though, Frazier is a different gravy to a Wilder
Interesting on AJ's part but quite frankly, we never saw Ali's prime. I believe Muhammad would have gotten into Mike's head long before the fight and would have taken advantage by imposing his will on Mike.
Foreman is easier to read, much slower than Tyson, bobbing hes also harder to hit (Tyson). Tyson is far more likely to get Ali in trouble than the powerful but clubbing Foreman imo. Your not bracing Tysons shot, compared to Big georges
By the same token we never saw Tyson's prime either Tyson was a dangerous starter. I mean, Larry Holmes made that mistake. Holmes thought 'Well, he'll probably get tired around round five or so and I just need to last that long, then I'll finish him' and what happened? He got knocked out in round 4. Tyson always came out charging from the first bell and there's no reason to think he'd be any different against Ali
Did you meet him? I met him, I am 6' 1" and he was a fair bit taller than me. Before you spout some more tripe, he was wearing boxing footwear and not some raised platform. What you think, is totally irrelevant in this case son.
