Who wins, prime vs prime between two light punching light heavies who could frustrate a foe to no small degree?

I haven't seen enough footage of either to make an opinion worth anything, but I want to see the answers so I'm bumping this thread.

    A genuinely tricky one.

I think that Loughran at his best, was a little bit better than Rosenbloom, and probably more likely to catch the judges eye in the event of a close fight.

His problem is that Rosenbloom is strong on some of the areas, that he relies upon as his key advantages, most notably speed.

This might end up looking a bit like Clazaghe Hopkins, but with Loughran taking in t based on cleaner punching.

PS, the fight could have been made, though not as described.

I think Tommy is a little better also, but can't really back it up with anything other than opinion.

If they had ever met, it would probably have been at heavyweight, and I guess there wasn't huge demand for it.

Yeah Bob, that's my call too...for that reason, plus I think Tommy might have been a bit more proactive than Maxie. I admire them both.

When I was pondering my all-time Light-Heavyweight list last year, I had these two very, very close right across the board: record, opposition beaten, head-to-head potential etc. And in just about every case, I had Loughran narrowly edging Rosenbloom out, which saw him nudge one spot ahead of Maxie in my list (had them #7 and #8 in a list which didn't include Greb as I was unsure what to do with him as a 175 pounder).

Based largely on that and the fact that we have the benefit of film, I guess I'd have to tentatively edge towards Loughran to take this one on points. I'll take his crisper, more orthodox punching over Rosembloom's industry and awkwardness. Loughran could be very cagey and wouldn't mind letting Rosebloom come to him, which wasn't what Maxie was accustomed to. But it's not a fight I'd call with any great conviction.

He has a 6.93% KO rate on Boxrec... abismal for the amount of fights he had

He wasn't a puncher... literally! Slapsie Maxie won fights by throwing love taps and skills.

Iirc he also had bad hand issues. Although that may have been someone else.
