Not really. Seems like a likeable kid but he's flash over substance until he proves otherwise. Pretty featherfisted for such a massive weight bully too considering he's a natural 147 beating up on 135 pounders. Kid looks like the living dead on the scales. Teofimo is much better and hits 1oo times harder and he'd spark him pretty easily IMO and I can't stand that pebble head clown and his turd of a father.

    Eddie Hearn is Haney's promoter.

Think I've seen him once (in the World Championships) and he looked a talent and one for the future.

Same age as Ryan and Haney. Year younger than Teo. Difference is he's vying for a medal. Dude is going to be so seasoned by the time he debuts. He's smaller than the others though. Seems more well rounded.

Says he's lost x 3 to that Marc Castro kid Hearn's recently signed who people are raving about but two of the losses were SDs. He lost x 3 to the excellent Andy Cruz too (no shame at all in that of course) but again one of the losses was a SD and the other a MD. I've only seen one of those fights so I can't pass comment on how close they were or weren't but it appears like he hasn't had the rub of the green when it comes to the scorecards if they were as close as the results suggest they were.

Cruz is a way more mature product at 26. I think Keyshawn won one of those first 2. Gave Cruz the other. Third was razor thin. Keyshawn basically got too conservative and complacent in the final round. Keyshawn actually put a clinic on the Frenchman Oumiha who handed Cruz a loss last year. The Olympics being delayed prob helps Davis. He's 5+ years younger than Cruz, Oumiha, and Bachkov. He's going to get better before our eyes. Can never count on amateur judges though. Won't be surprised if he doesn't get the gold

I have doubts that Cruz's style translates as well to the pros if he ever transitions. He's very hyperactive. Uses a lot of energy. I could see him having pacing issues, and if he slows he might battered. Beautiful amateur though. No shame in taking a loss to that guy.

Haven't seen the Castro fights. I know they were babies then. Honestly people bring up Garcia/Haney/Tank/Teo because they're more popular, but we could see Shakur/Villa/Castro/Keyshawn be as successful.

Cruz is 24 but your point still stands and it's very impressive to push him that close and arguably beat him given that

Could be. I hope not because he'd be a nice addition to the pro ranks

I've only seen an ever so brief bit of footage of one of Castro's fights after seeing Hearn roll him out at a press conference.

Possibly yeah albeit they might not all be campaigning in the same weight class as each other though by then.

    Not sold, man.

    Well, I guess he'll make a living.

How'd you mean? I'd put those guys about on par, nuanced styles aside.

He's only 21 and looks good and will only get better. You must have extremely high standards.

Not necessarily to enjoy/follow a boxer. Some of my favorite fighters have been relative ham and eggers, domestic level guys (Carl "Ingemar" Johanneson is an example), guys I liked to watch despite having a ceiling below world class. I'm just looking for a hook, something to move me – or, failing that, compelling evidence of potential to be something beyond just another athletic paper titlist who comes up short past B level.

The WBC. That's why he fought for the interim title.
