Alright! Now I know what really happened in this case. If what you said is true then I will admit that I have misunderstood Margarito and his trainer for years. I just thought that he loaded his gloves with something to make them hit harder than usual. And I know right now the reason why they (Margariito and his trainer) did not make the protest against the State Commissioner for that one year ban. I said it at the time and I'll say it again, a small gauze pad makes no difference to punching power in terms of the laws of physics.
1. Knuckles are as solid and as hard as plaster of Paris. If you covered your fist with even a solid gauze mat it wouldn't make a difference - just try hitting your other hand with your fiat and try to think how it might e any different with a pad sitting on top yet still covered with wraps.
2. The force is measured by pressure per square inch. The pressure is the same (see 1) and the size of the fist (square inches) is still the same. There was a dude who took out padding from his gloves, that would increase pressure.

I just don't know why they vilified him. Maybe PBF said he wouldn't fight Margo so they needed to get him out of the way. Maybe there was some other political motive. Either way, doing hardcore PEDs like Mosely would be seriouslu dangerous but they let Mosely fight him juiced to the gills.

Don't know where you get that information, but that I know of a fighter can drink or eat anything he pleases in his own dressing room pre-fight.
Once in the ring only water or pedialytes are allowed for a trainer to give his fighter between rounds.
