    I could see this being similar to the Firpo bout where an overconfident and complacent Dempsey gets dropped but comes back to KO Williams in a slugfest. I'd be rooting for the big cat to prove me wrong but I just don't see it. He has a much better chance against say Marciano imo.

    Except that Firpo was absolutely bereft of any skill, ring IQ or even dedication to training.

    I'm not ready to say who would win, Williams or Dempsey, but merely that Williams was light years ahead Firpo in the skill and talent departments.

    I don't get the fascination with Williams to be honest. He's big and good puncher but nothing special as a contender. Dempsey beat a few fighters of his caliber before getting the title.
