    Joe Louis, Larry Holmes. But being a dominant champion (Ali) in the era that is called Golden Era Of Heavyweight Boxing isn't bad either, is it?

    Larry Holmes.

    because he also beat a string of opponents that were average. Only thing is Larry did it without a tag team partner, no bull contracts tying a fighter to fight him an his tag team partner for 3 fights etc

    Ali...fought 61 times...fifty six wins..Boxing Mag named him the number one of all heavyweights in 1998. I just heard of him in the last couple of days myself.

    Heard this on one russian broadcast that there have been only 4 eras in boxing:

    Dempsey, Louis, Ali, Tyson, then you can add Klitschkos if you like.

    This is close to something I wrote a while back that if you lost to one of the Klitschko's, it was like you lost to both (as if they were one fighter instead of two) and had had your title shot even though they were separate title holders.

    The era was named after them to highlight how boringly horrible that era was for boxing. It's a reminder how bad things were much like when people quote the great depression in 1929 to the 30's. Funny how aloof you are lol
