Also, let me know when Tyson's main strategy is to use clinch and inside fight to avoid punishment. Godoy fought from extremely low crouch and clinched Louis immediatly, then he fought from inside trying to smother Louis job (he still lost most of these exchanges). Tyson never fought that way, he was a midrange fighter who didn't use clinch for anything else than to reset the action. Godoy was nothing like Tyson and Louis dominated him in rematch.
Maybe, I think that boxers like Ali, Johnson or Holmes would be more dangerous because they were faster and more elusive. Tyson would come right at him, although he would be very dangerous early he would have to take a lot from Louis too.
The speed and crouch is what takes Louis out of his element. Godoy still gave Louis a hard fight in the rematch. Louis was out of his element at close/mid range. I rewatched both fights and you are completely wrong. Louis struggled in first fight because of Godoy's low crouch (which Mike didn't use) and huge amount of clinching/dirty boxing (another things that Tyson didn't use). Your video examples show Tyson fighting at midrange, something Godoy didn't do against Louis.
Agree to disagree on Godoy. Godoy won the first fight, Louis the second once he uppercutted, he still got hit plenty. There's plenty of Tyson in the pocket, hip to hip at close range. The point is Louis has never been tested against anyone who can change direction to control the opponent like Tyson. Tyson fought at the perfect range to make use of his short reach getting off before his opponents. But he also constantly changed the angles
You haven't seen full fight, so how can you judge who won? Sure, Louis never fought someone like Tyson. After all, Tyson is one of kind type of fighter. Same applies to Louis though, Tyson never faced someone who was so briliant at all ranges, someone who has all types of punches perfected and someone who can knock you out going both forward and backward. The closest fighter to Joe Tyson fought is Evander and we all know how it ended to him.
Well he was 12 years past peak against Marciano against an ATG swarmer so what would one expect? How did Holmes fare 8 years past peak against Tyson? How did Ali look at a similar stage against Leon Spinks? You thought the first Godoy fight was controversial but there was no controversy at all. The commonly accepted scoring is about 10-5.
