Louis might hit the floor briefly if Dempsey catches him early, but he'll be the last man standing before the final bell. No boxer should want to wage war in Louis's optimal range, and Dempsey will do just that before paying a price for it.

Dangerous fight for Louis but Joe should prevail - Hard to see it going 15 but it very well could - prime vs prime - action fight and brutal power and combination ability from both

Louis is not Jess Willard, and Dempsey will not be able to stand over Louis and hit him as soon he stands up.

    Dempsey is facing:
    • One of the top 10 greatest fighters ever.
    • Top 5 punchers all time
    • Top 3 fastest hands in the heavyweight division.
I just to get that out there first. Dempsey will have a lot the deal with stylistically and pressure wise.

If they just go toe to toe, Joe’s faster hands do more damage before Dempsey can significantly hurt Joe. Joe can be dropped but you had to beat on him to keep him down. If they box, Dempsey has to take all of the risk just to land one heavy shot. That heavy shot has to get past the best reflexes in boxing

I see this either way Dempsey not being able to sustain enough offense to beat Joe. He can’t outbox Joe nor can he afford to trade punches inside or outside. The best his can do is try to set traps and hopes the Joe keeps running into them.

    I have Joe.

Two all time great punchers. I have to heavily favor Louis in this one. But Dempsey’s punching ability was no joke. Louis would have to be smart. He was decked by lesser men

Louis bigger, stronger, better technician, better competition, better hand speed. About the only advantage I give Dempsey is that Louis could be caught sleeping while Dempsey was all business from the bell.

Louis early in what could be very entertaining.

Great, another snoozefest. The draw is the obvious answer for me after both men dance for 15 uneventful rounds. It'd make Byrd-Williamson look like a Monshipour fight.

Where's the option for 'Dempsey draws the color line'?

Dempsey in 2 rounds,he's all over Louis before Joe has a chance to get into the fight.

Louis fought how many black challengers? Two.
Prior to fighting John Henry Lewis, look up how many black fighters he faced.

Dempsey isn't Galento, or Buddy Baer either.

Louis was never close to being stopped in 2 rounds, I can't see that happenning. It would be a brutal fight that wouldn't last distance, but 2 rounds is unlikely in my opinion. Dempsey would not just go straight at Louis like he did against Firpo.
