Stylistically Margarito would of destroyed Mayweather makes so much sense he did not fight him

Margarito will throw more punches and wear him down. He will be fresher towards the end. Kind of how Mayweather ran out of gas against Castillo 2nd half of the fight. He will do the same against Margarito. Except Margarito is too big and will do the job.

 

Yes they struggled with lesser fighters than jlc. With that said pbf was injured going into the 1st jlc fight even complained about it to his corner during the fight. In the rematch a healthy pbf beat jlc easily but people like you dont mention that.

 

Slow ass Maidana was. I don't care that Floyd was past it, Maidana was worse than Margo and had Maidana never fought Floyd everyone would have said "12-0 Mayweather, look at what Devon Alexander did to him". And no one will convince me Floyd nuthuggers wouldn't have said that. Maidana = slow and plodding, yet still bothered Mayweather and did more damage to him than Floyd did to him.

But you want to act like Margarito wouldn't have touched him cause he was slow, nah.

 

What in the hell gives you any indication that margo is going to land on pbf enough to wear hin down? Much greater fighters than margo couldn't accomplish this. Margo is a slow orthodox fighter with no jab, there couldn't be a more taillormade fighter for his defense than margo. Pbfs punch anticipation with his vision will see Margo's slow wide telegraphed shots coming and he will either slip them counter him or beat him to the punch. Margos lack of speed hurts him, and he doesn't even work behind a jab to keep pbf honest. If that fight happened back in the day i would have pulled out every dollar i had in my checking savings and 401k and placed a max bet on pbf. I guarantee you that no one here would even put a grand on Margo in that fight because they no he's outclassed and would get schooled. But since they didnt fight they love to bring up this bum like he had the skills or style to beat pbf.

 

What are you not understanding? No one gave Maidana much of a chance. Floyd fans were saying that Maidana was going to be stopped to the body.

Margarito is a more dangerous proposal than Maidana.

 

Stylistically he's not. Maidana is awkward he's slugger with power who will fight dirty on the inside can counter has faster hands than margo has a jab and subtle defense more importantly he throws a looping overhand right that can get over the top of pbfs shoulder roll and land on his temple. Margo is a straight up and down fighter who throws in volume no jab is slower with no defense. He's tailormade for pbf.

 

You dont care that Floyd was past it? Lmfao! That has to be taken into consideration when discussing fights. It's very important and cant be overlooked because it doesn't help your argument.

didnt Margarito get caught cheating in his very next fight after Cotto? Seems like a big asterisk and wasn’t Martinez 1 year into his career while Margo was a 10 year vet.
At his height Margo cheated Cotto and lost to Mosley, Pacquiao, Williams, lost a rematch to Cotto and retired a disgrace.

meanwhile we have a former 2 division champ a guy that outside of Alexander and the Mayweather rematch arguably hasn’t lost a fight in Maidana.
And Castillo who was the undisputed/Lineal champ with wins over a whose who of great 135 fighters in the 90’s/early00’s.
Y’all need to stop the hype Margarito ain’t even as accomplished as baldomir.

 

Would have been a close fight, Margo does know how to cut the ring, he did it with cotto and Pac and both guys had far more firepower to keep Margo off them.

Margo would have literally walked through floyds punches.

I’d favour floyd is in a close decision, much more comparable to floyd-Maidana 1.

It’ll be floyds accuracy and clean punches vs Margo volume and smothering. He’ll hit him in the shoulders, body, head, wherever and take 3 to land 1.

I don’t think floyd has really ever fought anyone with that sort of chin and relentlessness combined with volume. Maidana was the closest thing but Maidana was smaller and also not as tough, a Margo lite.

I think 2 guys Floyd deliberately avoided was Margo and Khan, both stylistically could have posed problems for him. I mean he fought Maidana instead of Khan after Khan won his Twitter poll and Khan was the bigger star who beat Maidana himself.

He would have beaten both probably but floyd was desperate to protect that 0.

Floyd wouldn’t be able to tie him up, like he does to fighters who start to unload. Margo would rag doll him, make him look like he has no control.
For Floyd to beat him, he would need to literally run around the ring for 10 of those 12 rds.

 

MAidana is shorter and had less stamina than Margie.

Margie would keep coming all night long bayby!! Maidana is good for what he was but he get's very tired and sloppy. Margarito just doesn't seem to stop or get tired.This is the key you have to keep pressure all 12 rounds. Maidana can't do dat!
