You prob won't believe me but I was fully aboard the Canelo express until he started offering up mealy mouthed excuses about not being a middleweight despite being the lineal champ at the weight. Other issues presented then themselves after I'd already long disembarked his hype train.

He's prob the first great Mexican fighter I've actively rooted against. I can't think of any others having been a big fan of MAB, EM and ODLH as a kid.

I'm the same way with Mikey Garcia. I used to be a big fan, but when he let a few fights slip and didn't seem so concerned about proving he was the best at 135, I stopped caring about his career.

I'll still watch both Mikey and GGG, but I won't make them a priority like I do other fighters.

I get that as fans we're all different, and I can respect that. Some people like to take into consideration personality, character, personal history, and several other things, which is fine, to each their own.

The main things I factor in when being a fan are style, willingness to seek challenges, heart. I don't care if they are sweet humble guys with cute smiles, or assholes with no regard for others.. as a fan of the sport I care about competition first and foremost. That's why I stopped caring about GGG, and Mikey, just as examples.
