Fury should just give WBC belt back to Wilder and fight Joshua next

    I know it sounds crazy, but...

    A) Titles are essentially meaningless. There is one world, and that is not big enough for four world champions. It is the man who makes the belt these days, not the other way around.

    B) He proved his point. He has already held every title.

    C) They will not make money off of a trilogy. The promoters had very good sales, but did not make money last time because of the high salaries of the fighters. With little to no interest from the public in seeing another one-sided beating, the fighters will have to take a pay cut.

    D) There is no prestige to be gained in a third Wilder fight. Fury already beat him twice, and about 85% to 95% of the boxing community knows that. The Fury-Wilder saga is a completed story arc.

    E) Everyone wants to see the Joshua fight.

    And, finally, here is the big one:

    F) If Wilder gets his paper title back, it only enhances Fury's status with every defense. The WBC can match him against Stivern 3 for the vacant belt, he can defend against Arreola 2, Washington 2, a resurgent Sam Peter, a hot-streaking Kingpin Johnson, a meth-head Hell's Angel, a moonlighting fireman, and construction worker, and Wilder can retire claiming to be a two-time champ with 15 title defenses and a 96% KO ratio. AND FURY STILL BEAT HIM.

    There is nothing to be gained in a third fight. No honor. No prestige. And, despite what Fury thinks, he is going to find, no money. He's better off letting Wilder rule in his own little pocket universe and continuing to fight the best he can get his hands on.

    Give WBC belt back to Wilder? No, Fury can't do that but he can relinquish the belt.

    Well, yeah. If you read through the post, that is essentially what I mean. The WBC will just let Wilder fight Stivern again, or something, and he'll end up with it, so for all intensive purposes, he is giving it back by giving it up.

    Which means giving the belt back to Wilder. WBC would give Wilder a bum fight to ensure he won the belt back.

    Ooh...O.K. but I think that Fury won't do that. I think that Fury wants to be the Undisputed World HW Champion.

    But is there any realistic chance of that happening? He's got the Widler rematch, the White Mandatory, Joshua has an Usyk mandatory.

    My prediction is that if they don't expedite this thing, it will be 2022 before it is made, and Fury doesn't want to fight that long.

    In most fans eyes it would be the ultimate demasculation and dismissal of wilder. That would sting.

    wilders fans would become insufferable though ‘fury is scared’ ‘fury has done a bowe’ ‘fury has never defended a belt’ etc

    Well..... It depends on another factor as well that is the spread of Covid 19 which is delaying all kinds of sport competition around the world. But I hope to watch Fury vs Joshua in 2021.

    Wilder needs a good win against another top up and comer to get himself back in the Fury AJ equation,,,,,

    unless he goes through with the rematch and then power to him,,,,,

    Not that I want to see Fury/Wilder again, but I would rather see Fury beat Wilder again than hear Wilder blabber on about being a champ again.

    The one trick pony was finally found out and the longer he stays out of the game, the better. He's not good for the sport, he's not good for the kids coming up and he's definitely not good for the world of PPV.

    Fury brought hope back to genuine boxing fans and made the gut of the casuals sink.

    it would be funny and could devalue that trinket even more than it is currently.

    let Wilder beat a few of the other top guys and earn his way back I say.

    or not, if its not just make the 3rd match and lets see what happens, all good either way as long as it is not dragged out for years.

    I’d rather Fury just knocks him out and ends his career then takes on Joshua to decide an undisputed champion

    if anything if Fury beats Joshua to become the undisputed champ he should get his brother Shane to bring a rubbish bin into the ring after the fight then he should dump the IBF belt into the bin as revenge for how bad the IBF treated him after the Wlad fight

    he could say “this is what I think of the IBF”

    now that would be funny
