Who among the old heavies, who habitually scaled under 190lbs would you pick to stand a reasonable chance with Marciano? I have Dempsey, and Langford, longshot Fitz. Can you think of another? Schmeling?Tunney? Charles [prime]?
Think Tunney gives him fits or has the chance to. Prime Roy could be interesting but I think he gets caught eventually too . Maybe prime Archie and Roy would be my picks to upset him possibly. ...possibly
Jack johnson, tunney, walcott nearly did, dempsey and yes floyd patterson with his hand speed and skill would have a good chance, Patterson could knock rocky out too and not only the reverse. Marciano did not have granite chin it is a myth
Fitzsimmons, Langford, Dempsey, Schmeling, Tunney, Charles, Patterson and younger Moore all would have strong chances. I'd like to see Tommy Loughran too against him - he fought a lot against HWs.
And? Every guy that i mentioned fought under 190 .johnson fought at 190 at the limit and even under 190
Cassius Clay He fought at 190 against Donnie Fleeman, and at 188 against Alex Miteff Also fought at light heavy in the Olympics
Under 190 and I'm picking Rocky over 15. Not that there isn't discussion but Rocky should be favored.
I think Charles a few years earlier has a live chance as does Tunney. I don’t think Schmeling had the right style nor durability needed to beat Rocky though. Bob pastor was also a slick fighter who was very difficult to KO but not sure how much of a chance I’d give him.
