Rocky would have butchered Walcott in his 20's for obvious reasons for anyone familiar with his career arc. Walcott didn't come in under 190 for his last 25 fights spread over 7 years.

If you feel compelled to include him so be it but barely anyone will take it seriously, like Johnson.

Tunney and Dempsey, after that it's pushing it to find someone. Two different approaches at fighting Marciano but I'd give em both a Crack.

Billy Conn, that's if he sticks to his game plan,
Gene Tunney, has the movement to stay out of Marciano's way.
Possibly Dempsey, but personally I Like Marciano to eventually overpower him.

I repeat Johnson did not weigh in for any fights in 1906 or 1907.Ill take two volumes of an acclaimed biography with years of research before I'll believe Box rec, but if you're desperate-------

You do what you want, I'm not really interested in continuing a pedantic conversation.I was just trying to produce a thread that would hopefully be of interest to posters who, like me are confined indoors atm.

you must be prepared to read different opinions in one thread, there is nothing pedantic about someone disagreeing with you

"Who among the old heavies, who habitually scaled under 190lbs would you pick to stand a reasonable chance with Marciano?"

Above is part of the thread header. It's not about different opinions as the fact is neither Walcott nor Johnson habitually came in under 190. Not sure what is hard to understand about it even with English as a second language dude.

Like a said. Johnson fought under 190 pounds and at the limit close to his prime so he can be mentioned and you are not going to change my opinion. I understand it perfectly i am not stupid and it has nothing to do with the idiom.

my point of view is the next one:

It seems that somebody invent certain conditions in the thread to exclude certain fighter, because even if the prime Johnson's lowest weight was 194 against Tommy Burns. DO YOU REALLY THINK 4 POUNDS ARE RELEVANT ENOUGH to exclude him in this thread? He was able to do 190 and it would be the same guy at 194 or 190.
maybe he had a very good chance of being favored over Marciano and it's the reason to exclude him or maybe it's just a matter of having a closed mind

Walcott who fought Louis was 33 years old, 194lb and could very well make 190 pounds, as well asoutpoint Rocky Marciano.

you would have finished sooner saying, "only specified fighters that I have previously indicated can be mentioned"

Mac most certainly didn't exclude Johnson for those reasons rest assured.

Marciano was always under 190 except for a few rare occasions and never hit 190 in any title fight nor important one for that matter. 190 also happens to be the old cruiserweight limit.

There's nothing close minded about it.
