First off, I doubt that there'd be 100 people. It'd be much less.

Secondly, athletes feed off of atmosphere and the fans. If you can hear people in the audience sneeze, it's entirely too intimate and can affect a fighter badly.

Brandun Lee said that he couldn't get into it without the crowd and should have KO'd his opponent much sooner.

Guys that are used to tens of thousands of screaming fans aren't gonna be able to adjust.

 

The problem is when will things blow over. Logically when a vaccine is around and everyone gets inoculated, then things will blow over and that could be a year and a half away.

 

This. A year and a half is a lot of time to give up for a fighter and especially someone like Porter, who is 32 years old.

I know.. I don't think people understand that without a vaccine this is going to be a really long up and down thing.

 

For most fighters I don't think that the lack of fans is a valid excuse. It's not uncommon at all for undercard fighters to fight in front of an empy arena. However, in Shawn's case, his all pressure style feeds off the crowd. The fans motivate to keep going. I think that for a fighter like him, an empty crowd would detriment him in the ring
