Fights in which people disagree on the winner

    The thing here (and with a lot of New York and New Jersey fights in that period) is they scored on the round system — if you knocked someone down twice in a round, you won that round; and if they edged you by landing more jabs in the next round, they won a round. After two rounds, the fight is even in rounds. Points only came into play if there was a draw to settle the difference.

    So I can see Snipes winning the fight by winning more rounds even though he would have obviously lost if it was scored on the 10-point must system.

    I always had the impression that Leonard thought he was talking to a bit of 'groupie' during that interview with McIlvanney.

    Leonard could come across a little too obviously glossed in interviews, at times. But, his reaction to McIlvanney's revelation saw the mildly cheesy veneer, suddenly drop, with him at a loss for words.

    Funnier, was Hugh's reaction to Leonard's reaction.
