"What the hella is the world come to"
    -Bufford T. Justice-
I saw comments like Fury would beat Frazier same way as Foreman,he would outbox Tyson and Marciano...
Are you guys crazy or something?
Fury is just a bum a poor man Ali!
Larry Holmes was great replica of Ali!
Fury is there maybe with Page and Tillis!
Fury was defeated and then defeated Wilder, chinny, one handed brawler who claimed he is the hardest puncher!Wilder beat cans and do not even came close to Tyson,Marciano,Liston punching but some here claimed he hit garder than Shavers/Foreman who fought in harder times and beat better people even at old age?
And then Steve Cunningham, small preassure fighter like Byrd but weaker put Fury down and almost had him!
Fury looks good only because he fought in a weak era and with only self proclaimed, one handed chiny puncher as his notable opponent! And that someone claimed that he would beat Frazier,Marciano,Foreman...
I don't know what to say but boxing fans became very big assholes!
So poor man Ali not even great replica beat chiny self proclaimed, unskiled brawler cpuld beat all time greats?
Based on what? And bum Cunningham had him down!
Just hype and those videos of his rope a dope imitations of Ali made him great? He even did that rope a dope against some bum there and Ali did that with parkinson and well past his prime against Dokes one of the fastest ever fighter!
I don't know what to say! Those giants use PEDs and they think they could move and their boring things in their fights...one giant killer like a Dempsey with real not hyped power would clear divison of those pooring giants!Trust me one day their boring size and PEDs would not help them against someone with real power and killer instict!

Firstly, respect is owed to the best fighters from every era.

Let's get that out of the way first!

Secondly, boxing fans are going in the wrong direction.

We have a generation who are so obsessed with size, and physical statistics, that they never bother to learn boxing styles.

Recently I have had to explain maters of boxing style/technique, to respectable posters on this site, that were common knowledge a decade or two ago!

There is also a hot hand issue in boxing.

The best fighter always looks unbeatable, until they get beaten, and then they are a bum!

This clown really knows a lot, like Tyson Fury decided to be a boxer and said I better take a $hitload of growth hormone, suddenly he was 6'9 with an 85 inch reach. Now I'm ready to turn pro, this guy is a total idiot!

I'll agree that Fury fought in a weak era, but he never lost
Also, Wilder does hit with power among the guys of Liston, Marciano, Tyson, but not quite the likes of Foreman I don't think. Having 42 wins, 41 of which by KO, doesn't come by being an average puncher even if you are just facing average competition.

Fury could beat Frazier, Marciano, but Tyson would be the hardest of them all for him bc of his speed. Not that Tyson is a better fighter than Frazier, (Tyson is a better fighter than Marciano though) but stylistically Tyson would be harder for Fury than Frazier. Heck, Fury would have a great chance of beating a prime Ali, definitely a 70s Ali. (I made a thread about how to beat Muhammad Ali, check it out for more info on this matchup)

Fury is the best of this generation. To really be considered an ATG, which he already will be even if he retires now (not saying that's right or wrong), he needs to:
    1. Beat Joshua and become undisputed heavyweight champion, including lineal heavyweight champion.
    2. Beat Wilder in the 3rd fight
    3. Remain on top of the division for a few more years, not by inactivity, but by beating top contenders.

Think about it, Fury is not a "bum". How many boxers in the history of time have ever been a world champion? Ever had the opportunity to become undisputed champion? Ever had the opportunity to become an ATG? Boxing "bums" are clubfighters with terrible records. Fury is the LINEAL HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION.

As I have said in my previous post, WBC World Heavyweight Champion Tyson Fury defeated Deontay Wilder, it was a great victory, well deserved. But it was one victory, he needs to be successful in the rematch with ex- champion Wilder, he needs to unify the belt with Anthony Joshua, then maybe a title defense against the almighty Snickerman, Andy Ruiz. He does need more title defenses to fairly assess him as an all time great and match him against the greats of the past. The greats of the past earned their stripes to be considered great, with momentous bouts. It is good to be cautious, remember everyone was making dream matches for Andy Ruiz after he defeated Anthony Joshua, but what happened in the rematch. Ruiz became a one hit wonder, it could happen to Fury, there is no crystal ball into the future. Muhammad Ali, Joe Frazier, George Foreman, and Mike Tyson, all earned their way. Size does not necessarily determine the winner, that is the younger generation obsessed with size. But as I have always said, Different Strokes, For Different Folks. Only time will tell for Tyson Fury.

Of course the todays hws are better, they weight more and are way taller then those midgets from back then.
Athletes get better with time not worse, thats just the way sport works. Like in every sport like dashing, or jumping etc. athletes are mensurabel better then decades ago, how can boxing a sport that is so reliant on power, speed etc. be any different?

anyway you seem to have some gay vibes going with these old grandpas, which is fine to me.

What kind of vibes? I beg your pardon. Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, as you are entitled to yours, please respect others, just because others do not agree with you. You do not have the right to use inflammatory language towards us posters.

You're right - everyone is of course entitled to their own opinions.

But aren't you tired of seeing wannabe "historians" calling today's boxers bums? Or is that just me?

You are the intolerant one by suggesting that gay is inflammatory language. Gay is a normal sexual orientation.
Did I ever say that his opinion should be deleted from here because i dont agree?
He is free to post what ever he wants too.
I am just saying that a lot of people here have a really odd deep admiration for those old hws, as if they were 14 year old justin bieber fan girls.

I do feel the same way, but we are dealing with youngsters. We have seen the greats, I just feel that name calling is juvenile and like I say, Different Strokes For Different Folks

Well, I don´t know where to start. Maybe stop :copas: that serbian home-brewed booze? Read (and got) ertwins post?

For starters, don´t put Rocky into the same boat as Foreman, Tyson or Ali. Just don´t, its not fair.

Fury is a 260lb high technical well moving boxer, a tripple super-upgrade of Joe Walcott. He would beat the living **** out of a 185lb attrition puncher, whatever his stamina might have been. He´d beat Tillis and Page soundly, two guys who easily match mobility and athletism of the best fighter Rocky fought.

Whatever boxer Wilder is, nobody is koing 95% opponents without having punch. And again, this fellow would LAY FLAT some of the oldtimers. Terrifying to think about putting this 6'7" and 6'9" monsters into the 175-190lb devision of yesteryears. Are you really that dumb to think Fury wouldn´t make an impact these days?
Weak era today? Oh sure, what about putting these 230lb men against Charles, Moore, Cockell, LaStarza, Tunney, Conn or Schmeling? :nut:
The Klitschko who Fury beat could stop three of them lined up one night.

Fury is a big problem. A very big problem for his opponents. He can move, he can box, he can take a hell of a punch + come back and he can punch himself.

He would be a task for about everybody who ever boxed.

And before I forget: There won´t be another 185lb medium-speed slugger or another rolling Mauler today or in the future. At least not @ CW or HW. They´d fight LHW.

First of all I am not gay, I am happily married, you do not know any of us, if you are that is entirely your choice. Yes we have a deep admiration for the old heavyweights, we saw many of them, but see you start with name calling, Justin Beeber, that is your generation. I can call these modern giants The Steroid Bunch, but those are your favorite fighters. I think that you should like the fighters you like and we will like our old heavyweights, agreed?

I don't agree with boxers getting anymore athletic from what i've seen. Some of the most athletic boxers ever just did normal old school training.
