Williams might do as well as Duane Bobbick. I think he will keep getting up though.

Why is this? Is it because Norton is no better than Tod Herring?

Norton simply couldn't deal with punchers. He'd have a much better chance against a Machen. I don't see the relevance of Tod Herring and will just assume it's sour grapes.

 Why even post this? You and I both know this simply isn't true. This thread must've really gotten under your skin huh?

Norton got stopped by Foreman in his prime. Williams was stopped by Liston 2x. There is not much in it. Your perception may be screwed. Kenny is as big and the better boxer. Norton also had enough pop to stop Williams.

Williams took much more punishment from Liston than Norton did against Foreman. Norton also got stopped by every significant puncher he faced. Even Ledoux who was no puncher (and that's being generous!) had him gangling over the top rope!
He also had enough "pop" to stop Shavers as well as being bigger and the better boxer. We all saw what happened there!

I know this doesn’t address the thread question, but this might actually have been a pretty good fight prime for prime

Norton would lose, probably by disqualification for turning up to the fight 14 years late.

In 1979 ok. How old was Norton? LOL.
Norton was never stopped by a fighter wasnt even regarded as a puncher like Ali and we all saw what happened there. Big Cat drilled into the canvas

Younger than the man who left a permanent imprint on the canvas with an assistance from Norton.
Ali was in his absolute peak, while Williams had just come back from being shot and dying 6 times on the operating table. I think that took a wee bit out of him!

Cleveland Williams could sure hit in his prime before he was shot on Nov 30 1964 on a Texas highway by a state trooper. Ali fought Williams on Nov 14 1966.

No, no let me help with the answer. He was almost 36 years old. As I said before there is not much in it. You can try to rationalize it one way or another but they both got stretched. Just Cleve got stretched by punches Norton would have smiled at.

Big Cleve never actually KOd anyone worth a damn. If he did catch Norton it would be crowning achievement for him.

As I said, Shavers was older and had less in the tank. Norton would go on to beat Cobb after this. You know... The same Cobb who KO'd Earnie.
At least Willians put up a fight and often gave back better than he got against a prime Liston.
    Lol
