Iv noticed some posters placing this fellow in their top 10 ratings of current heavyweights.

One had him as high as 3, and no, he wasn’t trolling.

So who is the Croatian chap in question?

    28 next birthday, currently 10(8)-0

    best wins

    UD over 33-11-1 Kevin Johnson

    KO over 27-5 Eric molina

KO over 46 year old amir mansour

UD over big sexy Sean turner (I had turner taking 2 rounds in an 8 rounder)

    Tko over Tom little

so....this warrants top 10, or even top 3 in the current heavyweight landscape? His next fight was scheduled to be against Jerry Forrest who has been sparked by Washington and lost to hunter.

Believe, this guy is going nowhere unless he does a pulev/povetkin and hangs around till he’s 40.

i will confidently state he will never pick up a strap, and shouldn’t even be in the top 25.

Based on his fans from the amateurs, I think he probably has some talent that he has not shown, but yeah, the expectations were wildly out of proportion to the reality was got.

His power seems to be overrated, and he has the Michael Moorer syndrome where he just seems to forget where he is and what he is doing for second. Some have noted that he is susceptible to a right hand, and it may be true, but again, I think it is just a concentration thing.

Let's talk in three years. He is either going to wake up or be put asleep.

Was robbed of at least a silver in the Olympics, arguably has a better resume than AJ, Fury, Whyte, and obviously Bootleg D after just 10 fights, seems to have an iron jaw and is one of the tiny handful of SHWs who has not only never been dropped or stopped in the amateurs but I've never seen him even been hurt. AJ, D, Dychko, Yoka, Makmudov. Joyce, Vykhryst, Nistor, Sirenko, Clarke to name but a few were all either dropped or stopped (most of them were stopped).

And he stopped three Cubans in the ams in Pero, Toirac, Larduet all of whom are quality fighters who, like him, have mixed in the highest company, and AFAIA in all their fights he's the only fighter to stop two of them and the other has only been stopped on one other occasion. And Tom Little says he's the hardest puncher he's ever shared a ring with.

I wouldn't rank him inside the top 10, but he's obviously a top prospect, probably the top prospect alongside Jalolov and Dubois atm.
I think someone like Whyte is way more overrated. Pretty much always fighting in the UK with a home ref and british judges and people act like he's the dark horse of the HW division. He didn't have the balls to fight Pulev in Bulgaria in a final eliminatotlr and gets hurt by every decent puncher he fights.
World class fighters don't go life and death with Chisora twice.

He's not top 10 but he is a decent prospect, at 28 though he needs to get a bit of a move on I thought he was younger than that

Idk about putting him in the top 10 right now although I suspect one or two guys at the bottom of a top 10 have similar caliber wins. Hrgovic certainly looks like somebody ready to cement that kind of status. He's got a ton of experience. He's got power. He's got a process beyond "just punch them out". He's a big guy. He's 27. Jerry Forrest isn't a bad fight, he was very competitive with Franklin, but that's if Hrgovic also gets a real step up in Q3 or Q4. That timeline is kind of screwed now I suppose.

I wouldn't be surprised at all if he pans out to some degree. I don't think this division is super deep. Ruiz went from an underachieving joke to top 5 overnight. Helenius and Wallin jumped how far above where people were ranking them? Also, I'm not sure how much we can blame Hrgovic for his competition. We don't know who's turned down what. Not sure anybody rating him are pretending it's based on his resume. He's pretty much the same age Whyte and Joshua were when they met for a prospect showdown. I don't think he's significantly behind most HW developments these days. Look at Wilder and Ortiz.

thing is Joshua was 25 and went on to fight for a world title right afterwards.

however, I don’t like bringing ethnicity into but it’s part of the politics of the game.
Being from Croatia hrgovic WILL find opportunities harder to come across, as opposed to AJ buying the IBF.

he will probably have to be mando

Shouldn't be in anyone's top 10 just yet, maybe top 15 though, and the guy putting him at #3 needs a reality check. But I still think he's the prospect most likely to make something of himself. Needs a step up though, at 27 he's not got the same amount of time to play with as Dubois (22) and Dubois didn't hesitate to get in there with Joyce. Bakole or Kownacki next would be great for Filip.

I don't think it's a question of ethnicity. It's political, but the deciding factor is money. Being from Croatia is a disadvantage in so far as he doesn't have a baked in national fan base large enough to move the needle decisively. Regardless, we've seen Lomachenko get a title fight in his second pro fight. Sure, it wasn't for a HW title which is harder to come by, but having the right backers can make things happen.

Whyte was 27 in that fight. Joshua was 26. Hrgovic didn't turn pro until 2017 when he was already 25. He has a lot of amateur experience. Better he be prepared when it comes than miss his one shot. Look how hard Whyte has tried to claw back another chance.

yeah and his amateur background is what will hold him back in the pros. 27, and he’s nowhere near a contender.

the queue for the belts is huge, his best hope is aj and fury retire and the belts fragment

just checked the cards for my sanity.

one judge had only 4 points between them. The other two were 80-72s
