Ricky Hatton says Saturday's super-fight with Jose Luis Castillo in Las Vegas is the only kind of bout he wants for the rest of his career.
The pair will contest the fringe IBO light welterweight title and Hatton says he is revelling in the hype.
"If I had wanted I could have stayed as WBU champion and made 30 defences but I wanted to fight the best," he said.
"I only want two or three more years at it and every time I step into the ring I want it to be one of these guys."

The unbeaten Hatton is in determined mood ahead of the eagerly-anticipated bout against the 33-year-old Mexican and is relishing the challenge of taking on one of the sport's big names.
"I've fought Kostya Tszyu and now I'm fighting Castillo, so that's great," he added. "Nobody can look back and say I was over-hyped or over-protected. These are the fights I want now as a matter of course.
"I have really proved so many people wrong. I always dreamed I would fight some of the best fighters in the world and now I am fighting some of the pound-for-pound greatest.

"All I wanted was to get in the ring with the other champions."
For his part, Hatton is delighted to have the respect of a boxing nation which has produced fighters such as Julio Cesar Chavez and Erik Morales.
And he will even have Marco Antonio Barrera carrying his belts into the ring on Saturday.
"For quite a while everybody's been saying I fight like a Mexican and I am really doing it as a mark of respect to the great Mexican fighters," said Hatton
"I think Mexicans admire my style as well as my down-to-earth approach. Apart from the way I fight I think Mexicans are amazed by how honest I am. "In this world where everybody is trying to be a celebrity it is rare to find people humble regardless of their success, and that is why Marco and I hit it off''

Hatton was described as fighting like a white mexican years ago so i dont see what the problem with it is now!!

He is friends with Barrera, which is well known!!! Where is the problem with that??

He could have stayed WBU Champ and not left the MEN Whilst making millions, instead he left Warren (which everyone wanted him to do) and done things his way, going to the US and fighting for meaningful belts and probably earning less cash than he could have back home.

Fair play to him i say.

i really don't see whats wrong with those quotes. i take it the bold bits are the ones that offend you most?

i'm afraid you are going to have to spell it out.

are you dissing his level of opposition, his willingness to fight quality opponents and his respect for mexicans? :huh

These two have been hateing on Hatton for ages and I'am not sure why. I mean I'am not a huge fan myself but I'am mystified as why they hate him so much. Man U fans perhaps?

i find it amazing that people actually take any notice of what fighters ever say particularily before a big fight.fighters have talked bull**** forever. where have some of these posters been the last 100 years.in sucka's case hatton could speak the most sense you ever want to here but he'd still hate him.the lad has a deep rooted psychological problem as regarding tricky ricky.i believe he has ricky's picture stuck on his dart board.

hatton has a nag for facing top guns that are past their best. like tszyu.

and now castillo, a fighter coming up in weight who last time out had a life and death struggle with an unkown.

hatton will beat a great name..........but will claim he beat a great fighter.

Castillo is still top 15 p4p by most...

140 is hardly brimming with talent. Hatton-Castillo is probably the best fight there, stop bitchin'.
