Can Anthony Joshua restore faith against Kubrat Pulev?

Does it really matter how he beats Pulev? The big fights will always be there for him regardless of how he gets the job done. Fury went life and death against Wallin but it did no harm in the long run.

Get past Pulev in whatever fashion and then hopefully AJ v Fury can get made.

 

I expect him to demolish Pulev inside 6.

If he somehow contrived to lose this, I would be very disappointed in him for killing a great event. And it would pretty much be a wrap for the credibility of his brand.

 

Yeah I think the lockdown might dampen public desire for AJ vs Pulev and Fury vs Wilder 3. People will want a real lift after the lockdown period/coronavirus is over and there'll be pressure from government for lots of big public events to boost public morale and get people spending money.

Hopefully talks are ongoing and this is a genuine possibility towards the end of the year.

I agree with all this, mate.

His stock is massive commercially but as you say, boxing fans can see that stylistically he has changed his approach since Klitschko. He boxed Ruiz’s head off in the rematch but he still look very anxious and on edge to me...he completely tensed up on the two occasions Ruiz eventually cut the ring off & start hooking. In terms of the way he views his own vulnerability, he looks fragile. So I think Pulev is perfect for him to get his confidence back...old, slow, upright, lacking in mobility & like Ruiz, isn’t a big one puncher. I don’t want to see Joshua in with Fury until he’s got that confidence back because Fury will batter the version of AJ we’ve seen in the last couple of fights.

That Ruiz stoppage mentally effected him no doubt but full credit to him for overcoming a mountain of pressure to take the rematch and win regardless of tactics

 

Arum again has said he's 100% sure Pulev will knock AJ out, he seems VERY confident in Pulev having AJ's number

 

Pulev's 39 years old and wasn't great to start with. He's a solid fighter but not fast of foot or hand and he's not slick, he's very hittable and he's an average puncher at heavyweight. He's OLD.
I'll be a bit surprised if he gives Joshua any real trouble.

I will have a few on Pulev, I expect AJ will win but I think he's vulnerable right now and will be for a while. I am willing to bet we AT LEAST see AJ's legs go from a Pulev shot in this fight

 

Here's whats funny to me. AJ KO's almost all of his opponents, but fights tactically against Ruiz, and all of a sudden he's a scared fighter to you idiots. Fury KO's 2/3 of his opponents, most of which where bad opponents, then he KO's Wilder...and now he's a scary KO artist???? The Wilder vs Fury fights have NOTHING to do with the Fury vs AJ fights. NOTHING. Different styles, mentalities, everything. I just don't think Fury will take the fight. He has already turned it down once and I think he will price himself out this time. Plus he cannot fight in the UK because of steroids

Joshua has been a cautious fighter since Klitschko

Klitschko presented AJ with his own mortality and he didn't like it, Joshua took AGES to recover from being hurt by Klitschko and it was somewhat miraculously he got through that fight

He then treated Parker like he was prime Mike Tyson

He failed to impress Vs Takam who chisora ktfo

Face it AJ hasn't looked good in along time, every fight he has he looks sketchy, Povetkin rocked him also

Fury's worst enemy is his own complacency but when he's on, he's a different class to AJ

AJ has almost Amir Khan chin levels, he's just fortunate unlike Khan he has a power deterrent and is physically bigger and stronger than most opponents, but seriously when he gets hit he stays hurt for like 4-5 rounds, it's not good
