I watched the controversial Chavez v Taylor 1 this morning. Taylor fought an ‘almost’ perfect fight. Chavez was slowly and brutally breaking him down but Taylor was starting and ending every exchange in style. I had MT leading by 11 rounds to 0 when he was stopped with 2 seconds to go in the 12th. I’d hate to think Richard Steele was corrupt but Taylor was a defending world champion, he was on his feet, he was miles ahead and the old red light signalling 10 seconds or less remaining was directly behind Taylor in the corner.... Love Chavez Snr as a fighter but Taylor was robbed.
Chavez broke his face, busted him up bad. If the ref didn't stop it when he did, Taylor would be a vegetable right now.
Spencer Oliver vs Pat Mullings. Spencer was one ferocious fighter. Chris Saunders vs Kev (the look) Lueshing. Arturo Gatti vs Gabe Ruelas. Any fight with Carl Thompson. Diego (Chico) Corrales vs Castillo A young Ricky Hatton working his way up. Great viewing. What a fighter Ricky was.
I'm going back to rewatch this now, cheers for reminding me about it. I thought it was about 10-11 seconds left, my bad.
As comprehensive a schooling you could ever see. I think maybe Froch won 1 round near the end when Ward was just coasting.
Official announcement was 2m 58s of the 12th.. ouch. The fight ruined Taylor regardless. He was never the same fighter again...
One I forgot to mention earlier. I love this fight for several reasons. There was big needle at the weigh in. Joe Murray, I think, was supposed to be the sacrificial lamb for an up and coming undefeated fighter. Joe was the away fighter. Great finish to boot. No frills, no bull****, just a good old dust up that doesn’t go as some people, would of liked. Joe Murray vs Rashid Kassem.
Been some great fights recently that would qualify in anyone's list as watchable time and time again. Inoue v Donaire Spence v Porter Taylor v Prograis
Steve Robinson against Hoko... Got to admit though, that at the time this was made, i was so happy to see Steve reaping his rewards, but thought it ends here against Paul. Although i liked both fighters i was rooting for Steve and i was ecstatic that he retained his title, but it saddened me how it ended with Paul just looking resigned at the end... Both were great fighters and i thank them for their service...
Watched james toney v vassily jirov last night, never watched it before. Toney so good, jirov played his part too great workrate and effort
