How would a young Earnie Shavers or Larry Holmes do against the top heavyweight boxers in 2019?

Larry finished a 15 roundder v Norton with both men finishing the fight trading blows savagely, Fury has never been 15 rounds.

LMAO! Fury beats the **** out of both. He’d deal with Shavers as easily as he dealt with your hero Wilder. Holmes would be competitive in spots but get outboxed.

15 rounds is all well. Frazier and Ali fighting in 100% humidity 38 celcius in Manila was insane.

But they were still completely exhausted fighting on heart alone at a given pace. Ali always took his time to recompose and clinch then fight in bursts. Holmes was the same but could get wild at times.

Fury still can still fight fleet footed late fight. Almost no heavyweight can do this especially one of his size. Wlad had to be saved by the ref in round 11 whilst Fury danced on him.

Big man with stamina and slickness of a smaller man. It's not fair.

When it's late fight and you're both exhausted the bigger man always holds a nice advantage.

Has Holmes ever had to deal with a hot and sexy fridge of a man leaning on him late fight? then get a big jab stuck on him?

This is how AJ is going to get stopped when he fights Fury. Not able to stay composed for 12 rounds at Fury's pace and having to deal with his size.

Holmes would have the best chance to be dominant....of the two. Shavers could ko with his power. they would be at the top.

The single-punch KO artist like Shavers usually don't have a good stamina. If you could take his best shots and go to the distance then you can beat him. You have to survive the first 6 rounds before getting him. AJ and Fury can beat him by way of K.O.

Just remember a Fat unfit Mexican was in the Top 3 in 2019 and is still quite capable in 2020 of Taking any of the Top contenders out....Take that into perspective when you line up Great Fighters like Holmes and Shavers into the equation....what Holmes and Shavers would do to Ruiz is a scary prospect indeed.!!!

Fury could out-box Shavers in his prime easily, far too hard to hit.

Ruiz has a better guard than Shavers had and a better chin.

Shavers always has a punchers chance against anyone but I don't see him beating any of the top guys of this era.

Larry in his pomp with that piston jab could give anyone of any era problems but I don't see him beating Fury - too big, too strong, too awkward.

Look at Shaver's loss on his record. Then tell me he would

He has a puncher's chance and that's about it.

Out of all the fighters from that 'golden era' that people salivate over, I'd pick George Foreman to be the most competitive against today's competition.

Shaver's had power but he really was a very small heavyweight.

I know people will point to the Ruiz loss on Joshua's side but styles make fights and Shavers did not fight like Ruiz, nor was he as well schooled.

You just said to look at shavers losses but not Joshua's. Is that objective to you? You are also overrating Ruiz based on the fact that he beat Joshua, ignoring the fact that he lost to Parker who I don't think anyone would rate as anything special. Shavers gave Holmes and Ali absolute hell and was fighting in the 15 round era. Joshua has proven very little in my view. He compiled titles that were either vacant or won off of someone who claimed them as vacant. His only real title fights to this point were against Ruiz, which did not impress me and wlad who was over 40 and hadn't won a fight in 2 years

Against Holmes, Shavers scored a knockdown against Holmes in the second fight, that was the only round he won in that fight before being stopped. In the frst fight, two judges had Holmes winning every round (120-108), one judge gave Shavers one round (119-109). In 23 rounds, Shavers won one round on all three judges scorecards (knockdown round), he won one other round out of 23 on one judges card. Other than the knockdown, Shavers was not competitive with Holmes.

In 23 rounds, there were 69 total scores submitted by 3 judges. Shavers won 4 scores out of 69. Of course the 11th round was not scored in the second fight because Shavers was stopped, but it obviously would have been a Holmes round.
