What had Price done before that to make you think he lost something? Seems to me like somebody was always going to come along and expose that defense/chin. They just hadn't up to that point.

Yes but after, he lost to fighters you know he would've beat before Thompson, I mean it was up in the air whether he'd beat Dave Allen

Okay, that's a bit of a stretch. Dave Allen made Price look world class again. Some of the most impotent offense I've ever seen at that level.

I know Price had amateur credentials, but I really don't get this persisting theory that he was destined for greatness.

His power is going to be there to bail him out so there's always a chance for him to bounce back with a huge KO win.

He blitzed everyone before Thompson. When he had his unbeaten confidence he was very dangerous compared to what he become. The fact he is fighting Dave Allen though, it has all spiralled since Thompson, he couldn't truly bounce back, that nervous energy depleted him every time

He blitzed that level of competition repeatedly after Thompson as well. It was the guys better than that who caught him.

The only way I see Wilder bouncing back is getting bounced off the floor again by Fury.

If he knocks out Fury, then yes.

Given that there is almost no chance that happens, no.

He is somewhere between the denial and bargaining phase of the stages of grief, the bargaining being "you know it wasn't me in there" thing. The only way he could comeback is to hit full acceptance that he has to get better.

I mean, who is he going to come back against? Fury and Joshua are going to fight for the undisputed title, and meanwhile, he is still a guy who struggles with Molina and Duhaupas. Are they going to set up tune-up fights against Devin Vargas and Joey Dawejko?

    So no.

Are you talking about whether Wilder can bounce back against Fury or just in general? In general, he can come back with some tune-up fights. He's always going to have a puncher's chance against B and C fighters. However, he has developed a lifetime of bad boxing habits and I believe it is too late in the game for him to change. He's also made the mistake of surrounding himself with "Yes" lackeys. No one ever had the guts to tell him that he was doing something wrong. He always bailed himself out of trouble with that big right hand and that was as far as his learning experience went.

Against Fury, I don't believe he can ever recover from that beating. Deep down, he KNOWS he lost the first fight he had with Fury. In the second fight, you could see in his eyes that he was putting forth a false bravado. I don't want to say he was scared, but perhaps nervous would be a better word. Fury not only took it to him, but he also beat the living dog **** out of him. Wilder can say what he wants, but he knows Fury is all wrong for him and is probably looking to cash out in one final fight against the ol Gypsy King.

    Pretty much this.

Wilder would be a fool to fight Fury without a tune up.

I don't think he would've beaten Teper or Hammer prior to Thompson. Both were above the caliber of guys he was knocking on the head before Tony revealed his level.

You think he had an adrenaline dump? That makes sense! It definitely would explain what happened. To this point, I figured Fury sapped all Wilders energy by leaning on him from the opening round.

    Can he? Yeah.

Will he? If he goes straight into fighting Fury again..... then nah.

Take a tune up or two, knock over a few more cans, get the Wilderettes believing again and see what happens. He might be able to bounce back to a certain degree.

Totally agree. Wilder has convinced himself he wasn’t right last time, used every excuse imaginable for his crushing loss.
Once Fury starts to dominate next time, Wilder’s fragile mentality will kick in, memories will come flooding back & he will fold.
Personally l don’t think the fight will go ahead as Wilder will be ‘recovering’ from bicep surgery. Therefore a tune-up would be an option.
