If Povetkin had employed the exact same strategy as Fury, that took him two attempts to execute. So yeah.... no. Sasha would have been more cautious, taken less risks, and didn't have the reach or balls to pull off what Fury did.

Povetkin would have annihilated that fraud.

Wilder is hardly a good enough fighter that only one style can beat him. Fury beat him with two styles, what do you mean Fury's strategy took him two fights to beat him? He schooled him, then beat the **** out of him.

Pov was on a serious tear back then. Later he showed in the AJ fight he could come up with a good gameplan against good tall fighters but AJ is technically far better than Wilder, who can't box for ****. And that wasn't prime Povetkin anyway.

You said KTFO, Fury didn't KHTFO in the first fight.

We have no indication AJ has a better chin than Wilder, AJ was rocked once or twice, then finally timed a tiring Povetkin and KO'd him. The Povetkin that would have fought Wilder, like the one who fought AJ would have been clean, and therefore far worse stamina. A Wilder match would have followed a similar trajectory, only with the KO happening a round or two later. Since Wilder is actually more risk averse than AJ and doesn't care about winning rounds.

Wilder and AJ are just totally different fighters to say that the fights would have played out similarly. They are both tall and hit hard, that's where the similarities end. Pov would have been the best technical fighter Wilder had faced. If he employed that bobbing and weaving he did for AJ, I see problems for Wilder with his wild telegraphed shots. As for roids, to say he would have had "far worse" stamina is pure speculation. It's impossible to ascertain the impact of roids. The Joshua fight was 3 years later, hard to say that was the same Pov too.

Have you seen his matches against Wach, Hammer and Rudenko? Yeah the stamina was far worse, and with it, the power less effective.

As far as their similarities go, they both have big straight right and they both know how to land it, and they both would have landed it on Povetkin. He couldn't take AJ's power, he wouldn't have been able to take Wilder's. Sure there's a possibility Povetkin could have KO'd him, but Wilder is pretty durable, and would Povetkin have lucked out and landed the perfect shot to the back of the ear to get him wobbling all over the ring for the next four or five rounds? Your point seem to be, look what Fury did, Sasha would have done the same. But he wouldn't have. The fight is still 50/50.

You are putting words in my mouth. You came in talking about Pov doing the same as Fury, not me. I never mentioned Fury.

I'm not going at all by the second Fury fight. I've just always thought that back then, especially before Wilder had his troubles with Ortiz, the only decent technical fighter he had faced, Pov would have won. And I say by KO because of Wilder's style. I see Povetkin landing effective counters consistently, not bum rushing him like Fury. With that said, I wouldn't count out Pov winning even that way either.

Povetkin didn't fight many big punchers, throughout his career. It showed when Wlad dropped him multiple times and the bodybuilder Joshua got to him when he was roid raged. I think he ends up like grandpa Ortiz somewhere in the late rounds. He was a clear level below the likes of Joshua, Wlad and Vitali.

This is a hard one to pick, I think.

I could see Povetkin slipping well and doing to Wilder what he did to Price, landing a devastating counter or combo and then finishing the job. Price commented that Povetkin had very accurate punches.
But I could see Wilder's very fast raking RH's getting through and putting Povetkin out as Povetkin is trying to get in.

It's probably one of those who lands first fights.

He definitely has a harder task than Fury because of the short limbs. People always pretend range doesn't matter but it obviously does. Froch just commented on it the other day. If you can hit them but they can't hit you, it means you've always got an extra obstacle to overcome.

I don't want to see this fight now as Povetkin is 40. I want to see Povetkin KO Whyte but if he doesn't I want Wilder to call out Whyte and then KO him cold in front of all his British concubines.

Disagree. Joshua took a hard right from Wlad, got up and eventually won. That same right hand would have put Wilder down for the count. AJ takes a better punch.
