Floyd Patterson ducking then WBA World Heavyweight Champion Ernie Terrell in 1965. I remember the media was curious about this. This was after Floyd beat Sante Amonti and Eddie Machen in 1964. This was also after Patterson beat George Chuvalo in 1965.

The only one on that list that I am confident of, is Bowe ducking Lewis.

Why on earth should Patterson "Duck" Ernie Terrell after he had beaten Chuvalo to earn a world title fight against Ali?
Terrell“s so called title was worthles.

Canelo/Golden Boy with Golovkin was pretty obvious.

Bowe/Lewis was a big one too.
    Hamed ducked Marquez.

Those are recent ones that jump out.

Sometimes 'ducking' is a strong term. Sometimes it comes down to finance as well. However, in the spirit of the subject I will say that Gus Lesnevich and/or Joe Louis should have defended against Jimmy Bivins once they got out of the service, Henry Armstrong and Fritzie Zivic should have defended against either Charley Burley or Holman Williams rather than some of the soft competition they fought. And Joe Brown should have defended against his long standing No. 1 contender Duilio Loi. I'm sure there is a ton more out there.
