Maybe. At the time I had Pov beating him, retrospectively it's a close fight.

Povetkin Prime would surely have beaten Wilder and Joshua and perhaps Klitschko if the match had gone well.
And for those who say it's his fault: The fact that Ortiz was caught for doping in November 2017 did not prevent Wilder from wanting the fight.

I had it 50/50 with a slight edge to wilder. Povetkin is just as overated as ortiz

Povetkin in 2015 was a beast and Wilder knew it.

Povetkins technical level of boxing is vastly superior to Wilders and although Wilder has the edge in RH power, Povetkin hits plenty hard enough to crack Wilders chin and do a Price on him. Wilder isn't exactly hard to hit given how risk averse he can be when he has a genuine threat in front of him and Povetkin's left hook is arguably the best in the division.

Back when this fight should have happened, I favoured Povetkin then and even more so after seeing Wilder roughed up by the first, genuinely elite level fighter he's ever faced.

Povetkin took drugs, he knew he was going to ktfo.

He sure did. Povetkin would have destroyed that fraud.

Wilder fought cautiously when he challenged Stiverne for the title so I think it's fair to say he may well have been a bit nervous fighting the far superior fighter in Povetkin away from home in front of a partisan crowd. If he tries to box clever here and lets Povetkin take the centre of the ring then he ends up eating a fews big shots before taking a nap.

If we see the bolder Wilder we saw fight later on in his reign then he has a decent chance of landing that Hail Mary right hand of his.

Wilder's stock has really gone down after the Fury fight hasn't it?

And rightfully so. His 'reign' was smoke and mirrors. His fans were saying that his legacy was worthy of comparison with top 10 greats because of the length of his 'reign' fighting the likes of Shpilka, Duhaupas, Molina, Washington, shot to **** Arreola, the medically out of shape Stiverne and Ortizn't and to think he rematches Stiverne after a 2 year lay off.

The first genuinely elite fighter he faces gives him a boxing lesson in the first fight, in spite only being 50% fit after a 2 1/2 year drugs, booze and binge eating after party and then a fully prepared Fury makes Wilder look like the one trick pony I and many on here always took him for.

I'm with you on that, it's just that even his fans can't be assed defending him anymore.

A little bit sad to see.
