Have we ever exchanged views about anything ? Is the prospect of going back to school unnerving you?
    Are you a tag team?lol
Two divs from nowhere, will we lose you when schools re-open?

You don't consider Marciano, Galento, Max Baer, Buddy Baer (2x), Walcott, and Charles all punchers? He only lost twice to any of those guys and that was when he was 75 years old. Took Marciano 8 rounds to do old Louis in and Charles wasn't able to finish him.

You cut out most of my post, which was full of facts, so I'm going to post it again and you can disagree with whatever you wish.

"Let's get real here. How many top 25 all time heavies Joe Louis, a guy you think had the 2nd best resume beat?

You can argue Schmeling or Walcott and he should be 2-2 in those fights. You can argue Rocky and Charles, and he's 0-2 in those fights. I'm not even sure if is room for Charles or Walcott in the top 25...but I'm giving it to you to make this point.

and please don't say he beat Walcott in the first fight. Yeah he beat Conn, but IMO he was exposed and it that was 12 rounds he losses. Louis vs. bum of the month title defenses don't enhance his resume that much.

He had a very long title reign, but in terms of opposition beaten, that's a different story."

You do know Schmeling was considered past his best for the first fight and whipped Louis cleanly. It wasn't a fluke.

Sharkey was very washed up, it was his last fight.

Bear was probably Louis best filmed performance. Baer was no boxer, had zero jab and hardly landed much. It is a good win. One of Louis best.

Jersey Joe Walcott beat Louis in the first fight, 2 of 3 at ring side with cards say so, the boo's when the decision was announced say so, Louis body language says so, and the film, what's left of it says so. Walcott also had the 2nd fight in the bag until he show boated late. I think part of the issue at this board is people are too historical and actually don't watch the films or study them.

You left out Charles and Rocky. Louis also struggled vs some of contenders of his time. Lucky for him they didn't have much skill or weren't puncher types.

Louis was tagged by a big shot from Schmeling after the bell unintentional, but he never recovered from it.It still took Max 12 rds of steady bombardment to stop him.
Max Baer also took a cheap shot after the bell had rung and Louis had dropped his hands Louis just looked at him with disgust.
Louis had a pretty decent chin imo

Louis didn't have a granite chin but he sure did have a reliable chin and ability to get back up and win a fight.

    Put it this way.

If you don't think that Louis's chin was much good, then it is unavoidable to conclude that his defense was exceptional.

You have to explain the results in the ring somehow!

Louis had a very good chin - he lost young because of a defensive flaw and late in his career to one of the hardest punchers in the division and it took a combo - He had a come forward style not a runner- he walked his opponents down and exchanged so his battle plan was offensive not defensive. He was hurt or dropped by punchers - Walcott was a great pin point perfection puncher but he got up - Louis had an excellent chin
