Could have Mike Tyson reigned as champion for 3 years in the 1960's ?

Nah man, Foreman fans take the cake. He has bone crushing power, can leap tall buildings in a single jab and only lost because of a Zaire voodoo cult.

I’ve felt that way as well... on the flip side, Tyson HATERS can be even worse. Some of them seem to think that losing to Buster Douglas was the ONLY thing he ever did

Oddly I haven't met a lot of Foreman fans here outside of Combates. I think Marciano fans are the worst personally, at least here. Marciano used to be one of my favorite fighters up until a couple months ago. Can't stand the guy anymore!

He might beat Liston (would actually have a very good chance imo), but Ali no way. Ali in the 60s would have knocked him silly in 8 or 10.

I think if he'd turned pro in 64 he would have knocked Ellis out in the first round after Ali's banishment, then gotten stomped by Frazier in the unification if it happened in...oh, 67-69. Frazier would go down a couple of times...and then get back up.....Tyson chopped down in 11.

Yow that's extreme lol! Foreman in the 70s was a total monster, definitely Tyson/Liston level in that regard, but even heavier punching than either. But he had nowhere near the stamina or even the chin of the 90s Foreman.

I'd say Mike would have stood a damn good chance of beating George post-Zaire (especially since Lyle gave him so much trouble). But the guy who destroyed Frazier and Norton...Mike goes night-nights in 3, and that's if George bought Girl Scout cookies that day.

    Just my opinion.

1960-1964 or late 1967-1970s then he loses it to Ali.

Exactly my sentiments, what you are saying is true, never mind that there are posters who used the Henry Cooper knockdown in 1963, Ali chopped him to ribbons in 1966, Ali of the 1960's way too fast.

Ali always got up when knocked down. So did Smokin' Joe. And they both fought back as hard as they could, which could be quite a lot. I just don't see Mike having the perseverance for that, but I could be wrong.

Liston might have gotten overwhelmed. Mike sure as hell wasn't no Cleveland Williams, or Patterson for that matter. The big question is....would Mike go down at any point against Sonny?

Yes I think Liston could put Tyson down, if he connected. Landing the solid shot on a prime Tyson is another deal

I think if Liston lands flush and floors Mike, Mike's done. But I lean toward Iron Mike on this, kayo in the 5th after a war.

i can’t see Tyson getting KO’d with one punch... but Liston has... twice... he also had his jaw broken by a light heavyweight fringe guy named Marty Marshal. If Tyson is able to slip Sonny’s lengthy jab ( which he could ) and land a few combos up the pike, I think this could be over early.
