"Briton Dillian Whyte's heavyweight clash against Alexander Povetkin could be the first major fight to take place behind closed doors, says Eddie Hearn. Whyte was to fight the Russian in Manchester on 2 May before the bout was postponed by the coronavirus outbreak." How does this heavyweight bout play out? The longer it goes on the more of a chance Whyte has... But can Whyte take Povetkin's hooks?
Whyte already turned down huge offers for the AJ fight so I don’t see him agreeing to a fight that will make less money if he can help it. Whyte will win by late stoppage and probably lose most of the rounds before that happens,I believe Whyte is the guy out of the two that needs to be more active, Povetkin is older but his experience is much better and he is the more accurate puncher of the two so I see a rough fight for Whyte ,another one.
I think both have their vulnerabilities but I think Whyte being younger and at home will win on the cards in a close fight I do think both are quite capable of knocking the other out and that is why I think this will be a good fight and why I think it is a pick em
Whyte needs to watch out, his clumsiness like being knocked down by both Oscar Rivas and Joseph Parker cannot be overlooked. You can't bully Povetkin, only Wlad was able to really do that and to be honest with you that was Wlad in his prime and he is a much taller fighter. I think Whyte winning is the safe bet, but I can see a Povetkin KO in the mid rounds due to an error on Whyte's part.
Whyte will box long, won't take risks, pop a jab for 6 rounds and then he should be OK, I'll go with Whyte by UD. But if Whyte doesn't turns up in top shape, not mentally sharp then it could be a tough night. Whyte shouldn't sleep on Povetkin or write him off. Povetkin can still punch, has a great Left hand and if he is on point is a handful for most.
Povektin is by far the superior boxer so it would be a shame if Whyte got a paper win over a 40 year old better. Hopefully Povetkin KO's Whyte cold and the saga of Whyte and his unbearable activist harem is brought to a close. I think Povetkin can win, but I also think he'll lose every close round on the cards.
I think Whyte beats him and retires him But if Rivas and Parker can put him on his arse the Sasha has every chance
They said the same thing about Hunter vs Povetkin bout, "Povetkin should hang gloves, he is past his prime, he is too old, Hunter will KTFO him" etc etc, but then we all say Povetkin got robbed against Hunter (Pov made Hunter fell against ropes, which ref didn't count). Povetkin will KO the reckless and undisciplined Whyte.
