    For a boxer to be tagged as an ATG, he must be timeless. Now that the Fab 4 Era is 4 decades ago, who do we ranked as the greatest of the greats.

    Roberto Duran
    Lightweight
    1968-2001

    Considered as the best fighter of 1970s and the true boxing superstar. Known for his trash taking, aggressive brawling and devasting punching power in both hands, the Hands of Stone is considered as the greatest lightweight ever
    The real reason of his No Mas fight with Sugar Ray Leonard is still a mystery but it is well documented that he did not prepared well in the Leonard rematch

    War medal for the Marvelous one. Easily one of the fan favorite because of his warrior attitude coupled with devastating punching power in both hands. Also possess one of the best chin in the sport that allows him to brawl.
    His decision to walk away from the sport at age 32 following the controversial lost to Sugar Ray Leonard left a bad taste on most of the boxing fans. There are reports that he even rejected a bigger payday for a rematch with Leonard one or two years later.

    Took the mantle from Muhammad Ali as the face of Boxing in the 80s. His main strength is his combinations coupled with sound defence. Went on to have Top 3 resume is welterweight of all time. Some would argue that his welterweight run is better than Sugar Ray Robinson and Kid Gavilan
    Having a short career due to injury and controversial win against Marvin Hagler did not catapult him as the undisputed greatest fighter in the Fab 4 era

    Personally I like Duran hearns and hagler more than Leonard but I think it has to be Leonard

    Duran close thread. He never, ever should have beat Leonard. That was pure will power and a bit of psychology.

    I have it in order :
    1. Duran, longest career span of the four, most fan friendly style, beat Leonard in first fight when both were virtually in their prime.
    2. Leonard, amazing skills, very gifted but nowhere near as many pro fights as Duran and lost to Duran first time around. Personally growing up, he was my favourite of the fab 4. Gets second because he beat Hearns and Leonard.
    3. Tommy Hearns, got beat by Hagler and Leonard but was beating Leonard first time around and probably got him in the rematch. Blew away Duran which counts big, if only his chin was better he would nearly have been the perfect fighter.
    4. Hagler, great run as middle champ but lost to a a past prime Leonard who was virtually out of the ring for 5 years, this cost's him big in my rankings. If he beats Leonard and retires, he's a lock at no.2. He beat Hearns and Duran but feel overall those two fighters did more in their careers.

    Leonard is the best of the FAB 4. Leonard beat all of them Hearns, Duran, and Hagler. It's not so difficult to choose.

    Duran and Leonard are the best. Duran impresses me in his ability as an older, out of his weight class boxer, to still be competitive due to his great boxing skills. Leonard couldn't do that.

    You can't put Hagler close to Duran or Leonard. Duran would've beaten a peak Hagler on points had it been 12 rounds, and Duran was a lightweight in his prime.

    Hearns was the best boxer on the planet going into the 80s, and would've beaten Leonard on points had it been a 12-rounder. Still the best boxer-puncher in history, Tommy.

    "Hagler may or may not be the better fighter, but he is the better Middleweight". What the Detroit paper said following Hagler's knockout.

    What's your take on this? Fair, or sour grapes?

    I get what they were trying to say, but I think that was bad taste. It was a widly entertaining fight and Hagler won dominantly. Just let the man have his moment.

    For what it's worth I'd rate Hagler as the better Middleweight and better p4p fighter anyways.

    Leonard has the best fight record between fights involved all of the 4 but Duran is better than him P4P in history.
