This might be a fun exercise.

Let’s choose the best first, second, third rounds, etc., all the way through 15.

Ground rules: This fight is going the distance, so each nominated round has to go the full three minutes — so something like the 12th round of Chavez-Taylor I is not eligible. All weight divisions are eligible. And in rounds where the participants faced each other more than once, please specific which fight. Gloved era only.

And importantly, this should be about the best rounds not the most historically significant.

I figure we can debate it on this thread and fill in the winners, or maybe I’ll set up polls after we have multiple nominations and put it to a vote. At the end, we’ll have 15 complete rounds that represent the best in boxing history.

Here’s where I’ll update and keep the nominees:

    1. Hagler-Hearns, Pryor-Arguello I, Frazier-Quarry I, Patterson-Johannson III, Moore vs. Durelle I, Benny Paret v Gaspar Ortega I, Fighting Harada v Bernardo Carraballo, Curtis Parker-Philip Morefield

And your Round One winner by vote, Hagler-Hearns: https://www.boxingforum24.com/threads/greatest-round-1-of-all-time.649242/

    2. Hamed-Kelley, Terry Norris-Troy Waters, Rosario-Randall II, Mando Ramos-Sugar Ramos, Charles Brewer-Antwun Echols, Chacon-Boza Edwards II, Ramirez-Rosario II

And your Round Two winner by vote, Norris-Waters:

    3. Duran-DeJesus II, Gomez-Pintor, Benn-Gent, Jose Napoles v Billy Backus I, Mando Ramos-Sugar Ramos, Juan Manuel Marquez-Michael Katsidis, Pacquiao vs Márquez II

The winner for Round Three, Napoles-Backus I

    4. Foreman-Lyle, Antuofermo-Cyclone Hart, Chang-Tokashiki, Art Jimmerson-Lenny LaPaglia, Jose Stable v Charley Scott, Juan Manuel Marquez-Juan Diaz I, Miguel Berchelt-Francisco Vargas I

The Round 4 winner, by technical knockout in the fourth round, George Foreman-Ron Lyle:

    5. Avelar-Vasquez, Israel Vasquez v Rafael Marquez II, Art Jimmerson-Lenny LaPaglia, Barrera-Morales I, Sithchatawal-Monshipour, Carlos Ortiz v Battling Torres, Jofre-Medel, Gatti-Ward I, Frank Fletcher-James Green, Anthony Joshua vs. Wladimir Klitschko

The Round 5 winner, Antonio Avelar-Wilfredo Vazquez:

the first round between hagler and hearns was focused on finishing before the limit, I doubt anyone has the stamina to last 15 rounds at that rate

    Round 1: Mancini/Frias
    Round 2: Naseem/Kelley
    Round 3: Benn/Gent
    Round 4: Foreman/Lyle
    Round 5: Avelar/Vásquez
    Round 6: Marciano/Moore
    Round 7: Yaegashi/Pornaswan
    Round 8: Franklin/López II
    Round 9: Gatti/Ward I
    Round 10: Corrales/Castillo
    Round 11: Eubank/Watson II
    Round 12: Del a Hoya/Quartey
    Round 13: Duran/Leonard I
    Round 14: ?
    Round 15: Boza-Edwards/Limón

Bollocks to ya @Bulldog24, I already had both of those ready for different thread in general, but I'm stumped for those last two. TiM comes to mind for 14, but I don't think it's quite there (IE: there's defo better). Again, Holmes/Norton comes to mind for 15, but there's definitely some more worthy.

This is a little harder since Saint Pat's rules state the round has to be complete. So I lose some of mine, like Lee-Locicero's 5th round. So, let's try a few.

    Round 1 - Aside from Hagler-Hearns I would also nominate Frazier-Quarry I and Patterson-Johannson III. But Hagler-Hearns looks like a lock.
    Round 2 - Terry Norris-Troy Waters
    Round 3 - Gomez - Pintor
    Round 4 - Foreman-Lyle
    Round 5
    Round 6 - Barrera-McKinney
Round 7 - Dave Boy Green-Andy 'The Hawk' Price
    Round 8 - Saad-Lopez II
    Round 9 - Jofre-Medel I
    Round 10
    Round 11 Robinson-LaMotta VI
    Round 12
    Round 13
    Round 14
    Round 15 Homes-Norton

Zale and Graziano fought three times. Can you be more specific?
