Foreman could have beat them both in one night.

That being said, Shkor was a ranked top ten contender in '47 for his win over Tami Mauriello, and also managed victories over Ring Magazine top-ten guys Rusty Payne and Johnny Flynn. He also beat Johnny Allen who managed a win over Joe Walcott.

The Fighting Sailor, was 6'4.5" , and had a record of 31 (22)-19.

By the time he fought Marciano in '50 he was on his way out, but was an appropraite test for a young up-and-comer and notably jumped on the Rock and made it a tough fight in which Rocky was cut by a headbutt.

Not a bad fighter at all, and worth remembering.

Liston only fought maybe two rated HWs over the entire '50s, and didn't fight a top 5 contender until 1960.

The bunch of guys Liston fought earlier, ben wise, daniels, ernie cabb, mederos, whitehurst, bethea, valdez, besmanoff, howard king and wesphal were losing fights at the time Liston squashed them, each lost their previous fight coming in against liston. Even dejohn had lost 2 of his last 4 fights. This cant qualify as cleaning out a division. its regular form for a contender against has beens.

Liston wasnt avoided that long. He hit the ratings in 58' for winning 7 fights against unrated fighters who had all lost their previous fight. 59' was the year sonny started fighting rated fighters but ingo quite rightly went ahead of him for iceing an unbeaten machen, the #1. It wasnt until 1960 where Liston was facing fighters rated above him in the ratings anyway.

by then Patterson was tied to a rematch with Ingo...who was always rated above Liston.

Ingo was more impressive against Machen. Sonny was more impressive against Patterson...but Ingo probably softened Floyd up first.

Please either quote the magazine or admit you blatantly stole someone else's work and tried to pass it off as your own.

First I did not stole anything and you as always insult when you face facts!
What I did stole?Opinions of Summerlin,Doug Jones and Ingemar?Yeah right I stole their post even knowing they are dead for 2 decades!
Those are opinions of fighters which were told by them few decades ago!So what I did stole?I just copy their opinions!
Like you can find some opinions of Foreman on several forums and If I copy his opinion I did not stole anything I just quoted him!
So again you make yourself dumb!
Just like you said about Ezzard Charles few months ago that I stole post from another forum but I put whole magazine and his opinions about Clay and Liston when he mentioned Rocky power and that Liston was nothing special even when they spared!
So if quoted someone opinion which are available to everyone and probably someone quoted same I stole someone post? You make yourself so dumb this time that I could not even describe that!
Fighters opinions are not threads but quotes from themselfs and they are available to everyone!
So basically I did not stole but quoted!

Tom Tannas the manager/trainer for Ezzard Charles was asked to take over
    managing Sonny for that period.

They regarded Sonny as a 'Bear in a China Shop', that required much refining.
A strong guy, but not as powerful a puncher as he should be.

So what did I stole?Quotes and opinions are available for everyone and everyone could use that!

You are so wrong here the original post was Sonny Liston v Rocky Marciano and that means to me who would win if both were in their prime. You are quite entitled to your view towards Marciano but as the poll results show the majority lean towards Liston as do i

Thanks Chok. I know the History. And if you do not think Liston was avoided , that is your deal. Now all we need is Rocky Jim to chime in " Liston's a quitter" …. And then the broken record will continue … My point was before you got sidetracked, that many other ATG's have " quit" .. Liston was 34 and Ali was 11 years younger, coming into Prime, and the MOST athletic HW of all time with skill .. And to try and draw a comparison at 34 yrs old in that fight to how he would fair against Marciano, who had how many fights at 34 and 35?, is outright laughable ..

There wasn't much of a division to clean out.

Fair enough but will you at least admit that this is a poll on who would win if both are in their prime? A notion you previously dismissed

Rocky would maybe lose by UD but never quit!
    Quitter is a quitter!
50 years old Archie Moore fought bravely and did not quit!
Only Liston and Duran quit and they showed no heart!
Why Archie Moore who was 50 years old when he faced almost 30 years younger guy did not quit?

This one. Please show me the magazine you were quoting from, or admit you deliberately plagiarized it if you can't. "Sonny Liston was still "Mr. Mysterious" during the 1970's and 1980's.
Unforatenly the more one reads about Sonny Liston over the years the less invincible he seems.
Mike DeJohn and Cleveland Williams had him hurt,
    Eddie Machen bloodied his nose,
and he was later humilatingly knocked out by the"hired help"(Leotis Martin)
live on National TV in his own backyard(The Continental Hotel in Las Vegas),
also Mac Foster reportley had knocked him out in a sparring session"
