Winky wasn't facing a prime Trinidad in 2005, but that fight still highlighted flaws and problems in Trindad's game which would have always been an issue for him against Winky regardless of when they fought. I think Winky just had his number from a styles point of view. Trinidad had problems punching on the move and was always a sucker for a jab (Joppy landed an alarming number on him in just a few short rounds, and would have stood a chance of beating him if he hadn't boxed one of the most profoundly dumb fights I've ever seen). Tito also looked a bit clueless whenever he was pushed onto the back foot. Aside from the Vasquez fight where he was still very green and hadn't fully adopted the style which brought him success later on, Wright never really struggled with power or physicality, and was more susceptible to getting outworked. Just think that Wright's mix of tight defence, heavy jab and physical strength at close quarters would present a problem which Trinidad would never have solved. At his best Tito would have made a better fist of it than he did in 2005, but I see Wright winning the decision just about every time. Great value-for-money fighter, Trinidad, and obviously a brilliant puncher, but I think he shone against the right kind of style which suited him. Winky most definitely ain't that.
