I loved Ricky but he was never an A level guy. Canelo wasn’t in his prime. Stop. You’re worse than the guys who you claim are haters of Floyd. Had Canelo have beaten Floyd he’d have been placed on a level with SRR? Haha! I think someone’s spiked your lemonade.
Pacquiao was p4p #3 in the world and a world champion was he not? He would go on to defeat Bradley, Vargas, Broner, and Thurman, a prime skilled wba champion 11 years younger, did he not? Does that sound like a washed up fighter?
@Loudon dude your whole premise fails before it even gets started because 1. Random drug testing was in the contract from the very beginning and as originally laughed at stating they can pass any test and they were worried about get 50/50, it was only AFTER Mayweather agreed to 50/50 that drug testing became an issue. you do remember that it was Mayweather who tired to compromise by offering 2 weeks and it was Manny who signed to fight Clottey in the middle of negotiations. what can’t be answered though is this in the biggest fight of all time why would better testing be a problem, everybody talks about how peds are an issue in boxing yet having high quality drug testing in what was the biggest fight of all time seems like a no brainer. Considering that everybody blames peds for Manny being knocked out by Marquez, why was having the best testing for the biggest fight of all time an issue?
The old timelines are still available for all to see. I know exactly what happened. What do you mean: “What can’t be answered though.....”? It’s already been answered a thousand times. The testing was an issue because nobody had testing like that in place back then, including Floyd, and Manny had felt weakened after he’d been made to give a blood sample on the day he fought Morales in 2005, because the original one had been lost. You cannot view things today in the same way that we did back then. The boxing landscape has now changed. Back then, it was very different. Manny originally said that a blood test would be fine, until he realised what the contract entailed with the OSDT. That’s when he wanted the cut off. Yes, they both have huge egos. Yes, neither guy wanted to be dictated to. Now if everybody was submitting to that kind of testing back then and Manny just suddenly refused out of the blue with no legitimate reason, then that would have been a huge red flag. It would have looked very suspicious. But that’s not what happened. Now I can give you (I have given you) a legitimate reason why Manny wanted those cut off days. You cannot give me a legitimate reason why Floyd wouldn’t accept the 14 day cut off after Manny had come back and agreed. He should have been happy. He’d got what he wanted. He’d publicly made Manny submit to his demands. He was in a position of power with his ego and his reputation still intact. Yet there was no fight. Now the only logical conclusion to draw from that, is: He didn’t want the fight at that point.
Loudon I actually respect you as a poster irrespective of our differences on this topic and others however I think you are being disingenuous on this. This is what I mean by revisionist history. Hatton was an undefeated 2 Weight world champion when he fought Mayweather and ranked inside the top ten pound for pound ratings as was Canelo Alvarez. Now people claim Hatton was never an A Level guy or Canelo was not prime at age 23 having had over 40 fights , a reigning undefeated world champion and professional fighter of 7 years standing. I respectfully disagree.
