It is a testament to Sullivan's raw athletic talent, that he got away with his excessive drinking for as long as he did!

This is from their second fight, not first one. Jeffries outboxed Fitz in their first fight.

You are putting two and two together and getting ten here.

Just because a fighter takes a beating, it doesn't mean that they don't have a system of defense.

It might be that they are up against somebody who is a better boxer, or that they are susceptible to a single punch, and the other guy has figured it out.

Jeffries unequivocally had a multi faceted defense, taught by none other then Tommy Ryan, and it worked extremely well in some of his fights.

Now if you wish to discuss this topic further, then I suggest that you give it a thread of its own.

No, your the fool. Jeffries floored him 2-3 times depending on the source, and Choysnki ran the entire second half of the fight. Back in those days they fought without him shields and used horse hair gloves, and Choynski landed a good one.

7 fights is not a lot. It's not an excuse its a fact and the draw drew boos. Jeffries said he won the fight afterwards. Besides Jeffries would improve greatly as his career went on.

I guess you might have learned something about Fitz vs Jeff 1. It was a sound beating on skills.

As your article, Fitz age was known. Its not a fight report, just a guy summering facts as he chooses. Yeah, Jeffries was cut, he proved he could fight through it. Fitz warped his hands with electric tape, which if you know something about hand wrapping can make your hands as hard as a rock. After the fight Jeffries wanted to see the gloves. Fitz quickly tossed them into a crowd, a clean fighter would not have done this. The fight was not a fake. How amateurish of you to suggest that. I already told you the tides turned in round 7 and Jeffries cornered and finished Fitz in round 8. After the fight, Fitz gave praise.

You really don't belong in the classic section.

Resorting to insults? How childish. Judging by the thousands of times @mcvey has verbally raped you in the classic forum I'm surprised you ever venture in here.

I'm entitled to my opinion, and you can have yours. You're wrong of course, but we can all live with that fact.
