Who are the top 5 fighters who have no/very little film available of their fights that you would like to see. My list: 1. Harry Greb- beat 18 world champions, come on, this is a travesty that we don't have film of him 2. Peter Jackson 3. Harry Wills (prime) 4. John Henry Lewis 5. John L Sullivan
1. Beau Jack 2. Archie Moore (in the 40s) 3. Jake LaMotta (in the 40s) 4. Sugar Ray Robinson (in the 40s) 5. Rocky Graziano This was just off the cuff. If I looked through all my favorites, the list would probably be slightly revised, but definitely Beau Jack. As far as I know, his first fight with Ike Williams was the only footage we have of Beau.
Harry Greb, Maxie Rosenbloom, Jack Britton, Lew Jenkins, Tiger Jack Fox. There are other earlier fighters, but these fighters were active when fights were being filmed with reasonable frequency.
With how many greats that Greb fought and having tons of footage of lesser fighters around that time I find it hard to believe that there isn't footage of Greb somewhere on planet Earth. Somebody is going to die and their family is going to find it pushed back in some attic somewheres. Then hopefully someone competent will be able to get their hands on it to release to all of us hungry classic boxing fans.
We may have one or two fights of a couple of these guys, but nothing major, so I'm gonna include them anyway. Since Greb is a staple and has already been mentioned, I'll leave him off. Prime Ezzard Charles John Henry Lewis Sammy Angott Bert Lytell Maxie Rosenbloom
Greb Eddie Booker Holman Williams (very small snippet available) Cocoa Kid Bert Lytell I'd enjoy footage of Gorilla Jones against someone other than Thil too, the Steele fights would be interesting for me especially.
1. Greb 2. 175 Charles 3. 147 Robinson 4. Eearly dempsey fight 5. Early Marciano fight Honorable mention : Liston VS Marsall, machen, folley, valdes?
