We’re just going around in circles. I’ve already told you why the testing was an issue. How many times does it need to be said? Nobody did it back then, including Floyd, and Manny had the incident with Morales over 5 years before any negotiations with Floyd had taken place. That’s why. Again, context is needed. Yeah, Floyd negotiated, but Manny could have just said no to any form of testing. Floyd wanted him to give blood, Manny initially said he’d do 3 tests, then it went from there. They then had their back and forth. Floyd said it was 14 days or no fight. Manny wouldn’t agree so they went and fought other guys. Manny then went back and told Floyd he could have his request. Floyd then walked. He walked from a $600m fight despite the fact that Manny had given into him. Fast forward a year, and he was trying to give Manny $40m from a $600m fight in return for the entire PPV revenue. Ha! Yet you think it was Manny who didn’t want the fight. Floyd was spooked pure and simple. He kept moving the goalposts because he’d got Roger in his ear talking about A-Side Meth etc. If Floyd had wanted that fight back in 2010-2011, he’d have tried to have made it. The fact that he didn’t tells you everything you need to know. That’s all I’ve got to say on the matter. If you don’t agree, we’ll have to agree to disagree and move on.
Yes, Hatton was a top fighter, but I guess it depends what your criteria is for rating a guy. To me, guys like Floyd and Manny are A level fighters. Elite level fighters with elite ability. Ricky was a great fighter but not anywhere near elite. He was very exciting and he was a great pressure fighter. But I watched his whole career. I was a fan. I watched him have wars with guys like Jonathan Thaxton back in the day. He never had a chance of beating Floyd. He was completely out of his depth. Floyd had elite level skills, a huge reach advantage, and the fight wasn’t at LWW. Floyd has a good few wins that were better than his win over Hatton. His win over Oscar was better. Oscar had great ability and he completely outsized Floyd in every department. Regarding Canelo, he was nowhere near his prime back in 2013. He’s in his prime now.
Now this is a honest post and I wish his detractors just come out and say they hate his personality and their perception of his character because you can’t argue with his boxing record which is perfect.
I know, but his revenue doesn’t affect us. I know why he did it. Of course I do. We shouldn’t be celebrating it as a meaningful win though.
This applies to a lot of people. But the truth is this: You will accuse anybody of hating on Floyd, even if they just question some of his actions. You are way too defensive. He has a perfect record but not a perfect resume and career. You have to accept that.
P4P #3 in the world with a championship belt coming off some good wins. Sounds like he was in his prime to me.
You now finally agree that Hatton in your own was a top fighter and a great fighter. I also watched a lot of Hatton including going to see him fight live because there was a real possibility that a fighter I managed would fight him. Honestly I don’t know anyone who met Hatton including Floyd and Roger Mayweather who don’t actually like him. I don’t disparage his ability or his ring cunningness but if you go back to my posts before they fought I knew he would lose because he was ready made to order for Floyd. He would lose to Floyd 10 times if they fought 10 times at any weight even at Light Welterweight or Lightweight. Floyd was not exactly a big Welterweight. As Roger Mayweather said many times Floyd is not even a Welterweight. As for Canelo I have also had the privilege of watching fight close up from ringside and have always admired his ability. Like his countryman Juan Manuel Marquez despite having the innate toughness of the typical Mexican fighter he is not stereotypical in that by inclination and nature he is primarily a counterpuncher. The problem for Canelo is that what he is good at there is nobody better at than Floyd. He did not lose because he was not prime because he had entered his prime. He lost because he met his ring Daddy in Floyd. People who support Floyd were afraid but Floyd took him to school it was so easy. It’s not because Canelo was not good but Mayweather was to good.
Well it would do wouldn’t it. You’re not exactly Mr. Objective are you. He obviously wasn’t in his prime. You’ve got to be desperate to claim that.
As for Oscar, Floyd took his soul. He broke him down mentally before the fight and physically during the fight. Floyd told him he couldn’t do ****.
I do think he or anyone says it was his greatest win but the big mouth MMA got what was coming to him.
I am not playing Defence. I am playing offense on this. As I have said before I disliked and even hated Sugar Ray Leonard as a man but not once did I deny his brilliance. The problem with a lot of Mayweather haters is that they cannot admit his brilliance. For the avoidance the previous sentence is not directed at you because at least you admit his record is perfect.
Manny's clear avoidance of needles in the 2009-2010 era may hurt him more than anything hurts Floyd. I don't claim Floyd was clamoring for the fight but let's not pretend Manny and his team really wanted it yet either. They had all kinds of weird excuses themselves.
