How different would 160-168 look right now if Pirog never retired?

He ate some shots from Jacobs and Ishida, that's for sure, and didn't even break rythem.

Those guys obviously don't hold the same power as GGG though.

If he did win how do you think a match between Pirog and Canelo would go?

    The Grandmaster schools him.

Then Canelo robs another old man.

Oh, unrelated but similar, I love Derevyanchenko. Cold, mean *******, Consummate Professional, thoroughbred technician and an awesome pressure fighter.

I think he has a genuine case for #1 MW today.

    I agree.

That much of a difference in height is hugely relevant when you look at both of their styles.

Derevychenko has it all, I think that's another name who might just school Canelo.
Would be a crazy fight as well I imagine.

Yeah, hope we get to see it. I think Derev only has a couple years left.
I think Pirog is just better, and there's a lot of similarities. Pirog was like a front-foot James Toney. Such a shame.

Me too, but I don't think Canelo wants that smoke.
Why would he? He could just get an easier win, with a bigger payday, from Charlo.
People can say what they want about Canelo, but he ain't dumb that's for sure.

There are, Canelo can't use his defence offensively in the same way Pirog does though.
Any man who gets compared to James Toney is an automatic great.

Look at Pirog vs Ishida then look at GGG vs Ishida then tell me who you would favor. Look at Pirogs resume outside the Jacobs fight and it's basically null. Your basing this Pirog legend largely on his one impressive win over a mentally unprepared Jacobs who was mourning his recently deceased grandmother and almost cancelled the fight. While Golovkin had 20 middleweight title defenses 18 by KO. I would go with the proven commodity over the relatively unproven.

Golovkin was supposed to knock out every top elite he fought , but reality came into play once he stepped up his competition, I still remember most of the forum picking him to stop Jacobs in 5 before the fight happened lol

    Really hard to judge

the eye test he looked fantastic

ko’d Jacobs who has actually went on to show a sturdy jaw, was Jacobs illness the reason for the knockout?

Shame because he was a clear talent

The Ishida fight doesn't hold too much relevance for me.
Ishida is genuinely a good boxer, and the biggest difference between when Pirog fought him and GGG fought him, is that GGG had the power to keep him honest.
Lets be real here, before he got hurt, Ishida was giving some real problems for GGG too.
He's a guy who throws when you throw, it's a headache for most fighters, that's why he was in there with those men.

I'm basing the "legend" of Pirog on his absolutely outstanding boxing skills.

You gotta understand that at the moment he and GGG were supposed to fight, it was the biggest fight of GGGs career so far as well.

I genuinely believe his technical ability blows Golovkins out of the ****ing water, it's just a matter of whether Pirog could take his shots
