Like that Spider-Man gif with two Spideys pointing at each other, what cases can you think of where there have been two (or more) fighters with the same name who fought in the same division.

(And this should be their real names, so no Young Joe Louis and Joe Louis stuff.)

I can think of two off the top of my head:

Lightweights Charlie “Choo Choo” Brown and Charlie “White Lightning” Brown, who both fought in the 1980s. (Interestingly, Choo Choo won the vacant IBF 135-pound title and lost it in his first defense to Harry Arroyo, who defeated White Lightning in his first defense.)

Heavyweights Jimmy Ellis (the Louisville one) and Jimmy Ellis, the former football player. The 1960s/70s guy from Louisville held the WBA title for a while and the other one, who played linebacker at Boise State and was with the Raiders for a preseason camp, beat Tony Tubbs and lost to George Foreman and a few other name guys, more of a journeyman.

    Who else is there?

Floyd Mayweather Jr, fought two opponents named Jesus Chavez, both super-featherweights.
One became WBC super-featherweight champion, the other was just cannon fodder.

Rodolfo Gonzalez and Rodolfo Gonzalez do indeed get a lot of people confused. They even fought at the same weight and their careers missed overlapping by just 4 years. Both Mexicans with big punching power. To make things worse both were nicknamed El Gato i believe.

One a champ and a lot better than the other. The better one had a fight on the road against a home town favorite paused when a home town fan threw a rattlesnake into the ring due to Gonzalez (the underdog) getting the better of the local. He was also diagnosed with bad liver cancer early on in his career and told he had a year to live. This one is better quoted -

Soon after, Gonzalez’s world fell apart.

Shortly after making his U.S. debut in 1963, the hotshot contender was diagnosed with liver cancer and told he had less than a year to live. But one evening, while staying at his mother’s house in Tijuana, the deeply religious catholic claims he was visited in a dream by the Virgin Guadalupe who encouraged him to attend her church.

Loaded with morphine, Gonzalez made a pilgrimage to that church and laid himself at her mercy. Within a short period of time, the fighter’s condition improved and he walked home unaided. When Gonzalez sought further medical opinion, doctors were incredibly unable to find a trace of the cancer which had threatened his life.

Michael Gomez changed his name to Michael Gomez, as there was already a Mike Armstrong in the SFW Division at the time.

Perhaps not what you're looking for but Henry Cooper's twin brother was George Cooper but he fought as Jim Cooper because their was already an active British heavyweight called George Cooper.

The Davis brothers at lh were a nightmare years ago. And you'd have Johnny Davis fighting Qawi like 3 times. And they were both boxers and were contenders for a long time.

There used to be a ton of confusion with the Klitschko brothers. That era prior to being world champs. Very few fights of theirs were in America and then only espn & usa cable. So anyone not sending away for fights, tended to lump them together and really had no idea how different their styles were. fortunately, through time, folks did come to realize the differences. sure would never have happened without long and distinquished careers though.
