He was but he failed to deliver when it was time to step up in competition. He was supposed to knock canelo out, atleast that's what i was told by overzealous ggg fanbois leading up to the fight. Hell even abel said if it went to the cards they deserved to lose.

 

There's no real "Supposed to KO..." you guys look so dumb saying that. "Oh no, some posters predicted a KO...and it never happened!!"

Ggg was the favorite in the 1st fight Lance. He was picked by a large majority of posters here to brutally ko canelo. I picked canelo because i knew gggs level of competition was trash and that would hurt him here. Stop acting like you weren't here back then when it was all going on. I'm simply speaking the truth dont get mad at me for doing so.

 

Even for the rematch a large percentage of GGG die hards predicted GGG by KO, probably not as many as for the first fight, but a large part of them.

 

As I recall, he was shark food, because he was apparently shrunken and weak without the PEDs. (I think there were some photos on a boat or something?)

Then Canelo comes out and presses the fight for pretty much the whole 12.

Considering all the fanfare and the expectations of greatness Golovkin revelled in from 2012 to 2017, dominating Canelo is the bare mimimum he should have been able to accomplish (I'll excuse his failure to stop him, on account of Canelo being very tough). A very good, consistent pro whom some people got too carried away with.

GGG beat Canelo past his prime, and beat him again even further past it.

GGG aged 28-33 blasts away any version of Canelo we’ve ever seen.

Only reason why GGG was competitive in the first fight was because Canelo was moving up, was not acclimated and was fighting a real MW for the first time in his career.

Once acclimated we saw the beating he laid on GGG.

 

Canelo has an iron chin. I don't think anybody can KO him anytime soon.
