After I read the massive lists from Fight City, I got loaded for the next couple months, but also thought many good ones were missing. With your help and mine, let's finish what Fight City started, and let's complete the list of greatest fights of the 80s. Since Fight City covered many of them, we will cover the neglected ones. Plus, since there are probably another 80 great fights of the 80s, let's simplify it, and take it one division at a time, so things don't get to hectic.

Good post even though it hasn’t got much feedback yet...I guess hypothetical fights that never happened are more fun to discuss than great fights that did happen. Thanks for the link I have seen most of them but you brought a few to my attention that I have not seen. I will try and see if I can come up with some to add. What division(s) are you thinking of starting with? HW’s will get more feedback, but lower weights will pique my interest more.

I've started three separate threads on flys, bantams, feathers. I'm taking it by each division. Heavies will be last. I see what you mean about hypothetical fights, it's more like:

    Me: Look at this fight.
    You: Great fight.
    Me: Ya.

Of course, at least with real fights, there's less of a possibility of disagreeing on whether it's a good fight or not.

I actually think the 80s had less great heavyweight fights than most other decades.

HW is just my least favorite division in general...I prefer fly to feather as my sweet spot.

I guess I won't involve you in the best HW fights of the 80s then.

I like heavyweights, but they can be slow. I think welterweights and middlweights are much more reliable on a normal basis. There's probably 100 great hw fights, there's probably like 500 or 600 great ww or mw fights in comparison. I like how they can slug from bell to bell for 10 or 12 rounds. I can't stand it when heavies fight an awesome first round, and then they're too tired to put on any rounds half as good as the first, ten rounds later... that is, if you're still awake.

I've been digesting that two part list and there's a fair few for me to see (I just haven't put the same amount of legwork in as @PhillyPhan69 ).

Anyway, looks like your getting a decent response on your other weight division threads now...

    I'll have a think.
