Foster or Pryor

Proyr was great too but I have a hard time warming up to him given what happened with Arguello in their first encounter.

Pryor was better. Pryor was also greater.

Foster lost to bums like Jones, Folley and Terrell. Lost to Ali. Also lost to Frazier in under 2 rounds. Frazier was half his size.

Neither have all too impressive résumés, but at least Foster has some kind of a noteworthy top 5. He also has a much longer, more impressive title run.

Pryor was a cool boxer, loads of energy and could adapt to any situation. Thing is, I'd pick quite a few people at 140 to beat him, whereas I'd only pick 4/5 to beat Foster. And LHW is MUCH deeper division.

This might be a weird place to say it but Foster's power is UNDERRATED. The among of iron men this man stopped is insane.

Hank, no-one else stopped him.
Tiger, no-one else stopped him.
Rondon, went the distance with Shavers.
Carroll, no-one else KOed him.
Tessman, no-one else stopped him.
Finnegan, no-one else KOed him.

Then MORE tough guys like Quarry, Kendall and Cotton. The man was built for destroying durable fighters.

 

Bob Foster certainly accomplished more with his career but pound for pound I feel like Pryor was the better fighter. When I watch film of Pryor I am simply blown away by his skillset. He really was a fighter that had it all. Speed, Power, Toughness, Stamina, and will. He was a guy that really had the talent to do so much more with his career.

 

Pryor was better I feel. As to who was greater that’s closer IMO. Off the top of my head I’d guess Pryor though it’s probably very close. Is it me or has Pryor actually became underrated after years of being somewhat overrated?

 

I think outside of maybe Julian Jackson , he has a case of being the biggest puncher pound for pound outside of heavyweights who I tend to not factor into power lists.

 

See I don't think I'd have either that high, but I've been accused as a little bit of a classicist in this bit. I also tend to rate HWs lower in a P4P sense. Since, the idea to take shine away from the HWs.

I had Langford and Fitz at the top (any order), then Wilde, Jackson, Sheppard and McClellan. Then a few other names which I'm absolutely certain would detail a good thread, so I won't mention them. Now looking back I'd put Foster above McClellan.

Yeah, Langford and Fitz are in there but also fought a lot at heavyweight and the footage is so limited I tend to not include them for right or wrong.

Wilde is a great one but I’m not sure it was the same consistent one hitter quitter pop Foster and Jackson possessed. He was a master boxer and was good at breaking the opponents down. He did always consistently face bigger men though but also had more rounds in which to score a KO usually.

 

Neither. They are different weights so didn't fight.
