My first experience of seeing Crawford fight was against the much smaller Gamboa and he was rocked badly by Gamboa in that fight. Who has Crawford beaten to be ranked in the top 5 pound for pound let alone being considered to be number 1? I feel like if Crawford wasn't American, he wouldn't even be ranked in the top 10 pound for pound. You know a special fighter when you see them fight, you can just feel it, but with Crawford there is nothing special about him, he's not particularly fast, powerful, nothing stands out.
Geezus, dude. While I agree that his physical attributes do not necessarily jump out in the way that, say, Roy Jones' did, Crawford is above average in those categories (power, speed, reflexes etc). More importantly, however, he possesses a first rate ring IQ and is exceptionally versatile in that he can beat you in a variety of ways. Crawford is excellent, your overt anti-American bias notwithstanding.
Haha, it's not an American bias, just an observation. The way you put it then yes I guess Crawford's boxing IQ may stand out. When he fights Spence or someone of a similar quality then I will be able to determine how good he actually is.
His speed in every category is good at worst, and his foot speed and reflexive speed are blistering. He is very agile and has great balance and elite body control. Brilliant ring IQ, vision, and instincts.
Yeah sure buddy. If you don't rate the three division, former undisputed champion, then who the **** can you rate? Fine he struggled against Gamboa in the early rounds, but guess what? He literally mopped the floor with Gamboa afterwards. Another thing in which you can criticise Crawford is his resume. Fine it's not the greatest resume, but the problem is Al Haymon is keeping his fighters away from Bud as if he has Coronavirus.
Gamboa is tiny with a tiny reach, has a glass chin and bad stamina. I guess Crawford has never convinced me of his status. Indongo was a decent win but Julius was nervous as hell in that fight and was wide open for the body shot with his long ass torso and poor defence. As for Crawford's resume. How does a boxer with an unimpressive resume get regarded as p4p number 1, people need to chill before crowing him p4p number 1? Which fighters is Al Haymon keeping away from Crawford?
This. Crawford is talented and nobody can take that away from him, but enough is enough. Crawford needs to step up the competition.
Errol Spence. Keith Thurman. Shawn Porter. Danny Garcia. Haymon making them say stuff like crossing the street. Crawford would beat all of the PBC 147 pounders.
Crawford has lost like less than 10 rounds in 10 title fights, has shown immense skill and is a former undisputed champ. I agree his résumé is lacking, but I don't know how you couldn't rate him.
Errol spence is not as good as I thought he would be but I still think he has the dimensions to beat Crawford. Thurman is still prime but has lost the eye of the tiger he once had so he probably loses. Porter is a bull, and would make it a rough fight for Crawford. Can Crawford fight as good as Porter on the inside? Danny Garcia has power. I can't be sure how that fight goes, may be a 12 round fight going either way on points. Any way the current welter weight boxers are not as good as past welter weights. Floyd and Manny were so good that even in their forties they can still win fights against the best of the welter weights we have now.
For me, Crawford is clearly behind Canelo, Golovkin, Spence, Fury, Joshua, Usyk, Inoue, Lomachenko. And, this is only my personal opinion, but i rate Beterbiev higher than Crawford.
Around the time I first saw Crawford live, I also saw Broner. Both were fighting smaller guys, Crawford was fighting Gamboa, and Broner was up against one of those tiny Philipinos he liked feasting on. The difference was night and day. Broner looked special, Crawford not so much. The only time I've been impressed with Crawford was against Indongo and I already touched on that. For example, can you look at Crawford vs a past prime Amir Khan and tell me that Crawford displayed any extraordinary skills?
Exactly, I feel the same way, not only when comparing resumes but also on the eye test - every fighter you listed has atleast one thing special about them that separates them from the pack but with Crawford I just don't see anything that is worthy of getting him into the top 6 pound for pound.
