I am of course thinking of this because I was thinking of the moment Fury licked the blood off of Wilder. It was Wilder that threatened to descend into madness, claiming to be possessed, giving himself to public rages, tacitly threatening certain pro-fury reporters, and ultimately trying to turn it into a race war. Fury, for his part, did everything he could to push Wilder further psychologically off the rails, and in the end, he was the one who had a sort of defining moment of madness. I honestly hope now that one of them has lost and some of the tension is gone, the third installment will be more of a pure sporting event.

Another that comes right to mind is Emile Griffith and Kid Paret. They had had a very good couple of fights when Paret publicly outed Griffith as homosexual, which was not done in those days. Griffith took his rage to the ring, and unintentionally pummeled Paret to death.

Both Johnson-Jeffries and Holmes-Cooney decades later became literal race wars to a degree.

Name some other famous feuds that went to very dark and disturbing places.

    Ali Frazier was pretty bad.

Ali calling Frazier an Uncle Tom and The White Mans Champion, was so disgusting and cheap.

Frazier was more black than Ali. He was the son of a share cropper, grew up poor, uneducated, etc.

I will always back Frazier with the treatment Ali gave him.

Ali-Frazier comes to mind. you have to place your mind back in that time. Ali and Frazier met...I think in Harlem...during the time of Ali's banned period...or just after it. The story I heard Frazier tell in an interview was that he gave Ali an envelope with some money in it...to help him during this time. after their talk Ali got out of the car and began to gather a crowd. Supposedly began to tell everyone that he was going to whip Frazier...calling him an Uncle Tom.Didn't Ali...in the fight build up....call Frazier and ape? of that I am not certain of my memory. didn't he punch an ape doll during an interview?...
Whatever the facts are ...there remained a lot of bitterness through the decades.

Mitch green and Mike tyson in the streets of Brooklyn, boom boom Mancini vs that Korean fighter: they looked at his hotel room where he stayed and they saw that he inscribed " kill or be killed" on his kitchen menu before the fight. Sadistically, Ray knocked him out and killed him in the later rounds, forever changing lengths of matches to less.

Another thing I noticed. Deaontay Wilder opened his big mouth while on the telecast with boom boom. I find it very disrespectful that in front of anybody, he so chooses to tell this to Mancini: I want a body on my record...really? You wanna trade places with boom boom?? Somebody who probably forgets what he did, but gets a harsh reminder from the stupid champ.

Another one, can't remember who but it was provoked by "Ricardo mayorga" he said he would kill his opponent and send him to hell with his dead mother, not exactly the nicest of words.

Marvis Frazier vs Tyson: Mike said he hit him so hard with a combo in the corner which slunked his body against the ground. Tyson was so empathetic that he said he wished he could have quit boxing that night. Scary ko btw. He said he hit him too hard.

Then what about Rahman calling Lewis gay? "Bring your sister or your mom and we'll see who's gay" equals 2 bohemaths breaking a table on sports center. Lol

I’m pretty sure Alan Minter used racist terms in the build up to fighting Hagler.
‘I don’t intend to lose my title to a black man’ was one quote.
The bout, in London was fought in front of a very hostile crowd, stirred up by Minter’s comments.
It only spurred Hagler on it seems !

Mitch Green and Mike Tyson former gang rivals, one was a literally insane crack addict the other was Mike tyson, gTyson ko'd him in the ring, on the streets and Green was trying to chase Tyson down for a third street fight. Green was genuinely crazy and I think even Tyson was getting a bit wary of this trippy dude.

Lol, I don't even remember the "fun" Broner anymore.
He used to make nothng but jokes and his trash talk was full of jokes(comedy is subjective).
Maidana broke the fun bone in him and it's been nothing but bitterness.

Nigel Benn & Chris Eubank was a sheer hatred of each other on display every time the two of them got anywhere near each other.

Years after they had both retired they agreed to do a programme where they both trained as Gladiators with a view to having a number of Gladiatorial matches against each other. What started out as a light hearted concept soon saw the hatred re-emerging and the show was stopped numerous times to calm the two of them, mainly Nigel Benn, down.

He didn't actually do this. He was just sticking out his tongue at the moment that he happened to be holding Wilder.
He pulls a tongue all teh time.

Weird. Hopkins said pretty much the same thing about Calzaghe, but in a worse way. Yet this is the one you pick out??

    Mayorga and De La Hoya.
Mayorga was really ripping into Oscar, saying he was an embarrassment to Mexican fighters and that he was gonna bang his wife etc.
    It got pretty nasty.

It was Cory Spinks. Mayorga told Cory he was going to kill him so he could be with his dead mother. I was so glad to see Cory beat him that night. Cory's mom was pretty much a single mother since Leon was more less not involved in Cory's life when he was a child. In addition to losing his mother, his brother Leon Jr. Was shot dead in St louis in the early 90's. His mother was everything to him and for Mayorga to say something like that was just as shitty as you can get.
