Ryder beating Smith so clearly is up there. Haven't seen the programme so can't say but guessing they didn't mention that one. Was Degale Truax I Sky? 1/100 odds on favourite too.

I seemed to remember Makuba was the favourite amongst aficionados?? Maybe not at the bookies though

It was just nerdy boxing hipsters who rated Makabu so highly. They like to pick out fighters like that and make them out to be something special because they think it makes them looks like they have some sort of special knowledge or insight and other people 'just don't get it'. We all know the sort. Makabu is alright but that's about it. Bellew beating him certainly wasn't a shock to many people.

They deliberately showed shows that were mainly under Warren. So ridiculously petty.

Eggington losing to that random bloke by the way was not a shock

I think DeGale Truax was on BT.

Some of the odds on here regarding an upset seem a little off. Froch was a reasonably warm fav by the time he rematched Kessler so in no way was that any sort of upset. Bellew was an outsider as was Hatton but both were not really significant outsiders or deemed necessarily unlikely to win the fight. Bellew was a bigger outsider both times against Haye for example. Hatton to beat Tszyu and Bellew to beat Makubu probably fall into the same bracket as Haye beating Mormeck or Calzaghe beating Lacy, albeit the latter was pretty much a coin toss with Lacy a very narrow favourite.

I think in terms of a headline fight upset involving a British fighter Truax DeGale would probably be up there. As has been said DeGale was something like 1/100. Khan was around 1/16 to beat Prescott lest we forget. And two sizeable upsets that don't seem to be included in these discussions as often as they should be are Ricky Burns beating Roman Martinez and Nigel Benn beating Gerald McClellan.

Great example but Chunky could have been on Channel 5

    DeGale Truax was BT yeah.

Frank had signed DeGale to fight on the channel as the new star, without knowing DeGale was basically shot to bits and lost in his first BT fight

Exactly, what was more of a shock for me was seeing Bellew on the canvas so early on in a fight of such magnitude at Goodison Park, Makubu wasn't even one of the top 5 Cruisers at the time.

Fitzgerald was 5/1 against SKYs hyped up Golden Boy, Fowler.

    We all know the rest.

I remember that night, Paul Smith was fighting on the undercard and was in the changing rooms warming up whilst his brother Stephen's fight with Selby was going on.... the cameras caught his reaction to the knockout and everything.

Not ideal preparation for a fight seeing your brother get put away like that but luckily he was up against Paul Samuels and blew him away inside a round.

The most satisfying win in boxing history for me, I'm not joking when I say that. I despise Fowler that much. More so than Usyk v Bellew because I knew Usyk was miles too good for him and would win anyway.

Honest to god that Fitz v Fowler was the last good Non PPV Fight Night that Sky have put on. This is over a year ago we are talking here, it's an absolute disgrace.

Makabu was a good fighter. He's still decent now, though too many wars have taken their toll. Makabu is Bellew's best win.
