Buster Douglas beat Oliver to set up the Tyson fight.
But what if, for any number of reasons, It ended up Mccall facing Tyson in Tokyo?
A focused OM up against a Tyson with his mind a million miles away.. Can he be the first to destroy the unbeaten champ??

Considering McCalls chin and how Tyson showed up that night, I see bad news for Iron in the later rounds....

No. Oliver would get outboxed and lose a decision. Just like in sparring.

The old sparring partner mentality may well be there, as it was against Frank Bruno.

Must admit, McCall's chin was made of concrete and absorbs Tysons best surely. Not sure if that could be a good or bad thing here tho with Tysons power shots, then again he did drop his hands against Lewis!
I can't throw out completely the idea that Oliver soaks it up then comes on to batter Tyson, it's definitely not out of the question.

Tyson could outbox a passive McCall, but no way he outslugs McCall-EVER.

Why not? Tyson was much faster and more skilled than McCall. He also likely hit harder than McCall. (Tyson was certainly far more effective at LANDING hard shots) Tyson also has much better defense, and an incredibly sold chin, as well

McCalls chin makes Tyson's look like glass. If there is a stoppage in this fight its only going one way.

That is a total exaggeration. Tyson had a rock solid chin. At least a 9 out of 10. Oliver may have had an 11/10, but the difference is trivial.

Agreed. Tyson could take a lot of punishment, the later kos came because he'd given up the ghost.

I agree that Tyson was better in all those areas, I even think he did hit a little harder than McCall. But McCall was immovable, Tyson's chin was questionable imo.

Tyson was tough, but not that tough.

I do credit Buster Douglas for his victory, but he had nothing to lose, he had a lot of personal issues around him, and the fact that Mike Tyson underestimated him, which in boxing's rich history, as many a champion did. A champion's job is to always be prepared for your next challenger, you have a target on your back. With that being said, I look for Iron Mike to take Oliver McCall for granted and not prepare himself to full potential, Oliver withstands Mike's assault early and takes a 12 round round close decision and the title, McCall's iron chin is well tested in this fight. Mike's management will ask for an immediate rematch as Lennox Lewis would do years later, after his knockout loss to Oliver.

McCall never quit but he stopped sparing because he was tired!
If someone quit in sparing that was Tyson, not only that but Tyson was down atleast once McCall wasn't!
