No miracles for Mike Weaver here, Sonny Liston boxes Weaver from the outset, then moves in for the kayo win in 3 rounds, looks like the kayo of Cleveland Big Cat Williams, in 1959.

This would not go well for Weaver. I see Liston dispatching him before the halfway point of the fight, Weaver unable to get past his jab to land one of those big miracle punches.

I'm not sure Weaver beats Williams or even Patterson let alone Liston.

As much as I like Weaver, he starts far too slowly to beat Liston. Liston by a knockout coming no later than 5.

Looks similar to Liston vs Williams. Liston stops him decisively and relatively quickly.

Maybe Weaver beats a 70's George Foreman??

that’s my biggest issue as well. Starting slow against Liston is a sure recipe for defeat unless you’re good at keeping him at bay from a distance. Weaver wasn’t this type of fighter.

You mean that Weaver wouldn't be on his toes...sticking and moving with his strong left jab.

Exactly. He’s not out jabbing Sonny Liston nor launching a sound plan of attack in a timely manner

I liked Weaver. He was a very strong fighter and a good champion. But against Liston, he wouldn't have much of a chance. I pick Liston in five.

See Foreman-Norton. It's the same thing basically,...a chiseled, sorta/kinda chinny ex-Marine vs a burly, fearsome bullet-proof killer. Liston ko Weaver in 2 or 3...
