Ra's, in post #59 you mentioned you have an exam coming up. So if the exam rules state that it is closed book, at 8am with a #2 pencil, do you make up your own rules and show up at 9am, books open while using a crayon? Of course not. Otherwise, your material would not be taken seriously and ignored. Take that into consideration.

I’m thrilled by (most of) the response. Please continue voting. We’ll move on to Round 2 when this vote times out.

Less than 3 hours before the voting closes on this round. Get your shots in before the bell rings.

And protect yourself at all times.

I was not around for a lot of the fights mentioned. I started following this great sport around 1978. Hagler-Hearns is always the first one that comes to mind when I think of great first rounds.

Hopefully the video clips will help. Some great stuff there that I hadn’t seen worth checking out.

I'm not saying it was the best Round 1 ever but I think Ali Foreman Round 1 should be in the conversation. Ali coming out of the gates with fire throwing big shots on George when many thought Ali would be more cautious early. The roars of the crowd every time Ali would land. Ali Foreman was one of the best most exciting round 1s personally. Seeing Ali come out that lively vs George was surprising.

Ladies and gentlemen ... we have a (nearly) unanimous decision:

The greatest completed Round One as determined by the nominators and voters of the Classic Forum is ...

Marvelous Marvin Hagler vs. Thomas Hearns!!!

I will add the result to the original nominations thread and, hopefully tonight, get Round Two started.

It was fantastic especially given the expectations and exposure. What an event.

Pryor/Arguello for me. The other 13 rounds were pretty good too. Best fight I ever saw
